I did two years of Kung Fu training nearly fifteen years ago and haven't practiced since.Someone took a swing at me last year, and my training kicked in. He was on the ground before I even consciously realized what I was doing.

A lesson, kiddies: trained fighters never lose their training. They have it in them at a base level. That is what happened here. Ask any boxer or martial artist and they will tell you.

It's not a matter of just having training, but having good training. I've practiced martial arts since I was 5 thanks to my dad, had some ok teachers and some really bad ones. Thankfully I've also had some fantastic ones. It still astonishes me how many assholes come out of a McDojo after plopping down the money for their belt test and think they are a badass.

You may want to use a weapon, but if you don't know how to use it, the odds can easily change.

Anybody with a modicom of reading comprehension would be able to see that there were two guys in Massachusetts. The alleged thief and the guy charged. The alleged thief was carrying at least two weapons one of which was a bladed one. The guy charged said that the alleged thief came at him which is why he admitted to hitting him in the face.
