I've never had anyone pay me like that initially, but I'm not doing to shabbily right now. I'm doing my best to set as much of that in motion as I can... about a thousand bucks at a time maybe a few times a year, or as often as I can at least. Most goes to students, some anonymously to one particular small church (I'm an atheist, but I like 'the cut of their jib'), and some to two local charities because I know what the cash is turned into. It's not much, but every little bit helps, I guess.

Maybe it's a waste. Dunno. Worst case scenario: I feel a little better about me while the rest of the world burns.

Farkers, I'm in my second year of a university course. My aim is to graduate and help the oppressed people of the world by teaching them English and life skills.

However, I dropped my iPad today and that has severely incapacitated me in my learning. I may have to drop out of university now and get another job - to go along with the 3 I already have - in order to get enough money to get another iPad. It has never been easy being an orphan kid after my family were kidnapped and never heard of again. Some days I cry in class at the thought and the other students taunt me because of it. I prefer it when they harrass me because of my tatty clothes and shoeless feet. At least then I know they are laughing at me and not my family.

I'm not a charity case and I don't want people feeling sorry for me, but if anyone can help with my situation, please send all donations to g­u­ng­fuliam­gc­om. (I only know how to use the 64 gigs version). Thanks.

So, 63 years ago someone gave him $200 to help him stay in pharmacy school with the only obligation to "pay in forward". I dont' really see how donating money 63 years later to install wifi in a center for pallative care is paying it forward. Was that really the expectation of the original donor? I think doling out a few hundred or a few thousand to struggling students over that 63 years with the same admonition would have resulted in a greater overall benefit. Also, wouldn't it have been more fitting to do this anonymously instead of "look at me, I've giving away a million dollars"? Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that he did this, I just think he didn't do the maximum amount of good that he could have, he missed 63 years of helping struggling students along the way.

He was going to work. But a friend of the family saved him. So he got to finish school. Nowadays that does not happen.

I know you're trollin', but the article does say he saved up $80,000 after 22 years of working, and turned that into a million + whatever he lives off and still has with smart and savvy investments. (And likely a lot of luck.)

Where in the article does it say he has kids? It's always good to see farkers make absolute dicks of themselves because they can't read a short news artiicle. Insofar as the value of $200 today, at least someone worked it out. Huge difference between 1 cent and $2000, but inflation-adjusted figures do a better job of illustrating purchasing power parity than some dork flying into the thread and pumping out some BS.

I bought a couple of TVs for my parents. If you're in an extended care facility, a TV is a better way to stay entertained than watching your roomie get transferred to the funeral home.
