Absolutely nothing outside of St. Louis. It gives me the creeps.

Wait... it costs in lost revenue for ski resorts, but doesn't it save boatloads in snow removal costs and vehicle accidents?

Am the only one here saying, "Good, Fark Snow." I live in the midwest and I hate driving in it, hate shoveling in it, had the general sloppiness of it all. These 40 degree days lately have been wooooooonderful.

Aside from a few flurries that didn't stick, nothing in Boston since October.

It is creepy. SE Michigan here and we have nothing. It is freaky warm too. My herbs are starting to grow like it was spring, and I found 2 dandelions outside the other day. We should have snow and ice, and the ground should definitly be frozen by now.

A lot of places pay a flat rate for plowing for the season. This year and last seem to be balancing each other out.

2012-01-07 09:22:49 AM
The big thing the article missed is that this lack of snow could expedite droughts next summer. The snowpack keeps the soil moist in the winter and the melt replenishes streams.

It's also good news for struggling families who will pay less for their heating expenses. HEAP benefits were cut again by Congress and the White House.

Same here, near Detroit. It feels like spring already, and we just bought bigger sleds for the kids. They're a tad disappointed, though we could probably put the hose on the hill and let them sled down a mud slide.

This. I don't think farmers too happy with the current snow fall.

Hardly any snow here either though, (southwestern Ontario) which is a nice change since last winter I was shovelling snow that was at my waist.

Here in northern MN we haven't had enough to even cover the grass yet. And it was 51 degrees here on Thursday. But I'm ok with this.

You're comparing a single storm to the rest of fall and winter thus far?

It great when your only worry about snow is how much is in the mountains.

Philadelphia got about 97 inches of snow last year, which is 3-4 times what we normally get in a winter. I'd say we're due two or three winters with no snow.

If those of you that are skiers want to complain, please line up at my front door to shovel before you go have your fun.

2012-01-07 09:36:35 AM
It's a bit strange, here in west Michigan, to not have snow. But damned if I'm going to complain. I hate driving in it, plowing it, shoveling it, wading through it. Getting the farm through the winter is much easier without snow. Although I do miss the target practice provided by all the stupid snowmobilers who are too dumb to notice property lines.

Actually, it's saving folks money in terms of no snow plows needing to go out, fewer accidents, no absurdly overpriced lift tickets, etc.

That's nothing new.

The lack of cold weather around the last winter Olympics was surely proof of global warming. Two-Three months later when parts of the country were being buried up to their eyeballs in snow, that was just weather and 'not climate'.

And it's always like that.

Active hurricane season that included Katrina? Global warming to blame, better get used to more active hurricane seasons. Less active hurricane seasons for years? Peaks and dips in hurricane activity going back decades? Just weather.

Chaminade: Where are all the "hahaha you call this global warming?!11" people that seem to be everywhere when it snows?

We have all been told that global warming caused an increase in moisture in the atmosphere leading to greater amounts of snowfall. So now, we are hearing from the warmists that global warming causes both greater amounts of snowfall as well as lesser amounts. Is there nothing this magical climate phenomenon can't do?

While I'm enjoying the lack of freeze I know it's going to come back and bite us hard. Either extreme cold with ice storms late in the season or swing the other way and bad droughts and big bugs in the summer.

/nature will restore a balance

I'm going to blame it on my work, sending me to Florida last month, and the warm weather followed me home.

I just bought an all-wheel drive and we have a green Christmas. Not that I'm complaining, but darn it, I'm a touch conflicted.

Mileage is a touch better than I expected, too. I guess it's how you drive it.

2012-01-07 09:52:31 AM
Fewer planes delayed.
Fewer auto accidents.
More truck miles per hour.
Construction possible in places that usually shut for winter.
Much lower heating bills.

Net/net, warmer winters probably add billions to the economy.

Its probably all my fault - after shoveling my 200+ ft driveway manually for 10 years I went out an bought a snowblower this September when they first became available.

/sorry about that.

"Climate change" is the term that people smart enough to begin to understand "global warming" use to talk to six year olds and other people who don't and won't understand it.
