Christine rolls through car-park, across the road, down the driveway, under the roller door, and parks perfectly inside a garage. Ta-da

So he got out of the car without putting the automatic transmission in park. How did he get the keys out of the ignition?

Not every car locks the keys in. My high school car didn't.
I used to get a laugh by surreptiously dropping the keys under my passengers feet then screaming The Keys! I can't steer!

As a mechanic I have seen many vehicles over the years that you could remove the keys from the ignition switch due to it being worn out. Some were worn out so much that the keys would fall out going down the road.

It's not uncommon. I had that happen in two cars. It's convenient in the winter: go out and start the car to warm it up, take the keys out, lock it up, go back inside.

Yeah--when my car was still under warranty the ignition switch quit holding the key in properly. The dealer fixed it but 10,000 miles later it was up to it's old tricks again--apparently a bad design. It's been that way for 75,000 miles now. No big deal.

Happened to me once. Shortly after buying my beloved first gen MR2, I parked it in my sisters inclined driveway. Must've left it in neutral, pulled the parking brake, and thought no more about it.
Came outside, car was gone! OMG, someone stole my MR2! No, no, look about, there it is in the neighbors driveway - but behind their car!
Seems the parking brake was not fully engaged (or simply weak) the car rolled down the driveway, but the brake was just effective enough to bring it to a stop in the opposite driveway of the neighbor. They came home, thought some jerk had parked in their driveway, and blocked it in.
They were angry - so angry they called the cops. I went over to explain and apologize, simply glad that no one and no thing was hurt.
Well, their hurt feelings were not to be assauged, but the cop did arrive and laughed at my story, told me I was damn lucky and told them release my car to me on its own recognizance.

That's not a problem with your mom. Plenty of space.
For my penis.
Not that it's small.
Your mom just has a huge vagina.
Also she's really fat.

What rolled the door down?
Nothing, the car pushed the door out of it's track, so the bottom of the door was pushed into the garage, then up and over the car. Then the bottom of the door dropped down looking like the door was rolled down/closed. The top of the roller door never moved.

Not sure about Australia but not every country in the world has the American Nanny State law requiring cars to be in Park before allowing keys to be removed.

I grew up in a sleepy little rural area. No one locked their homes and half of the people I knew left their car keys in the ignition both at home and when parked around town. One day there was scandal when someone came out of the store and his car was gone. There had never been a car theft before so it was big news. Of course they found the car the next day at the bottom of the slope where it had been parked, hidden by the brush. And that's why you make sure that your car is in park and set the parking brake.

Some, maybe all, manual transmission cars over here don't have a clutch-safety switch either. Back in the States it's required. Which is why you won't find many shops willing to put remote starters on a manual transmission vehicle. So I wouldn't be surprised if you can remove keys from an automatic without going into park.
