Considering that the 9th Circus is the most overruled of all the Circuit courts, this shouldn't be a major problem.

2012-01-07 07:10:11 AM

Santorum must be upset there are still a few people willing to vote for him, he hasn't ousted them yet.

Two!

Two GOP candidates who will destroy the of separation of powers and our government.

Ah ah ah!

Damn those activist judges! (They're the ones that don't agree with my views.)

The usual political response to "We don't get demographics we want" is gerrymandering.

Santorum's not the first one to talk about splitting the 9th Court (new window) . -- but I suspect what will end up happening is more gerrymandering.

Constitutional protection for some, public opinion for others.

What a child.

2012-01-07 09:21:38 AM
Good luck with that. I'm sure that such a move would have no consequences whatsoever. Not that he has a snowball's chance in most Hells, but gottverdamme this man just loves to prove his unfitness for office...

2012-01-07 09:28:45 AM
Wait, subby, are you saying that congress doesn't have the authority to abolish the 9th circuit?

What a biatch. Go move to farking Putin's Russia, you wannabe fascist shiat.

9th Circuit Ct of Appeals thinks they are the 4th Branch of Govt...and yes they are the most overruled

They seem to only represent Illegal Aliens, San Francisco, and Criminals. The rest of you is screwed

and this is the guy the GOP thinks america will vote for...?

what the hell happened to the Republican party!?

I love this "activist" judge shiat.

This might be difficult for you to grasp, Republicoonts, but judges aren't the ones filing the lawsuits and charges they're required to rule on.

If only there were some process of appeals to handle their bad judgements...

Nah, let's just dismantle checks and balances and go straight to being a banana republic.

More evidence of illegitimacy...or a scripted show, at least.

Who writes this shiat?

Poopspasm: Nah, let's just dismantle checks and balances and go straight to being a banana republic.

Look, just because the GOP wants to destroy the separation of powers and the entire basis for our form of government in favor of a system in which the Judiciary will be subservient under penalty of imprisonment to the political whims of the Executive doesn't mean they want to turn us into a banana republic.

I wonder just how someone goes through law school, passes the bar exam, goes through the requirements to become a judge, and then still vote Republican.

Apparently there are more than a few that go through those steps, including a majority of the Supreme Court.

2012-01-07 09:58:26 AM
Wait, we're supposed to have judges that "reflect our values"? Funny I thought those were legislators, you know, the people who are elected and subject to re-election periodically.

While judges are the ones who uphold the Constitution, the very thing these conservatives whine about. A major purpose of the judiciary is to prevent the majority from running roughshod over smaller/less powerful groups and individuals. The whole purpose of lifetime appointments is to empower them to do things that are unpopular.

I wish someone would ask Santorum if he ever heard of FDR's massively stupid court packing plan. This is a version of that at the appellate level.

Republicans really should run this guy just to flush this scum out of their system. He'll lose literally every state to Obama, and will set a precedent that no Republican nominee for the next 40 years will be able to advocate these types of policies.

Clearly the neither the Founding Fathers nor Jesus ever intended for there to be an appellate court in San Francisco.

Good.

It's about time.

Soros has had a say in western judicial decisions for far too long.

I'm starting to view the GOP nomination process as a giant focus group research project. What will the electorate go for? How far right? How totalitarian? That way they can build a better candidate for '16 or '20. Or they just think Orwell wrote a how-to guide.

He took advantage of a power vacuum in PA after Senator Heinz died. And he really is an amazing campaigner, literally knocking on almost every door in each swing district himself. He's very likable in person.

I don't think he's up for anything, PA kicked his fascist ass out a while. Like The "Witch" O'Donnell, he is now a professional candidate.

Sorry you had such bad timing for appointments. I guess those crafty liberals can manipulate time and space to ensure the judges retire on their watch. Or maybe God likes liberals.

The 9th circuit also makes more rulings than all the districts except maybe for whichever handles NY so of course more would be overturned.

Once again, a member of the GOP wants to shut down a part of government because that part of government happens to disagree with his beliefs.

Shocking.

With all the craziness beign spouted recently, all I can figure is that frustration and hatred for Obama has driven the GOP over the brink of insanity. I'm a little worried what these people are going to do when he gets reelected.

for all the sheer insanity from the religious right wing in this country, at least they're still (mostly) playing by the rules. they're not seizing power with guns, they're limiting themselves to obscure legislative procedural tricks and stuffing the ballot box. so there's that. which is nice.

What is funny, is that the Evangelicals might think that they'd be exempt. The things that they feared would come about when Kennedy took office might actually come to fruition with this nutcase in office...

What's it called when you want to do away with something/someone simply because it/they do not agree with your views? Oh yeah, fascism.

This thread is awesome. Not even 50 posts in and it's already confirmed two suspected trolls/shills/morons for me.

I'm sure being the circuit with by FAR the largest population and the largest caseload has nothing whatsoever to do with that.

If only there were some kind of math thingy thst let you compare two numbers which are each a part of different totals. Something that expressed them as a ratio or fraction of each total, to make it an apples to apples comparison.

Oh, why bother. Math, like evolution, is just a theory.

9th circuit is 19.75% of population. Next highest is 10.60%. Though I'm sure NY gets a lot more work than its population might indicate because of Wall Street.

the fact that Santorum really seems to believe in his version of sharia law only makes it worse. he'd impose a theocratic government on this country and really, honestly believe it was for the best.
