FTA...The suspected pirates, mostly Somalis, were taken to the Stennis to be held until a decision is made about prosecution, Pentagon spokesman Capt. John Kirby said Friday.

Fark that, let 'em sleep with the fishes.

And that, everyone, is how you build relations and bridge the divide between nations/faiths.

Bombing someone's house doesn't tend to have the same effect.

The American and Iranian people generally oughtn't to have problems with each other, just the governments of the two can't keep it in their pants.

2012-01-06 03:30:36 PM
Since it has the IRONIC tag I would have to guess the one and only thing that would make it ironic and say "Iranian hijackers"

2012-01-06 03:31:27 PM
The pirates were financed by the Americans. This entire thing was setup up to lull Iran into a false sense of security before Israel and America strike to take their oil!

I say we very nicely return them to Iran after feeding them, treating any medical problems and giving them new clothes.

And that we should return them via a trip on a US Navy Aircraft Carrier through the Straits of Hormuz.

I said 'nations/faiths', not 'leaders'. We all know the leaders involved in this scenario are all small men waving their pricks around trying to claim the top of the hill.

I'm not generally one to call "fake," but why are Somalis in the Strait of Hormuz? That's a long way from home.

According to the Navy, a helicopter from the Kidd spotted a suspect pirate boat alongside the Iranian vessel. At the same time, the Kidd received a distress call from the captain of ship, the Al Molai, saying he and his crew were being held captive by pirates.

So, the pirates allowed the captain to send a distress signal to the US Navy after they had already taken the ship? You know pirates- such a friendly, helpful bunch.

Also, the Iranian Navy has been out in force in the area for maneuvers, and they didn't bother to check on a boat that's been missing for 45 days?

Yeah, sounds legit.

They were looking for Osama's blown up remains.

I'm pretty sure the Navy is funded with property taxes and those tins of popcorn that kids sell door-to-door.

The Iranian government will turn this incident into something evil, I guarantee. Not saying they're any worse than the U.S., we'd probably do the same thing. That's just the way propaganda works. In fact, I don't know if I even believe that this actually happened the way the article says it did.

Its only a model.

We always do this. We assisted a North Korean ship with a pirate situation a few years back. They were grateful as well, and we got an extremely rare not-negative mention in NKorea's official news service.

Piracy control is not in the Constitution! By default this makes RON PAUL president.

I'll bet it was the French.

Another case of the "timing was perfect". maybe they can claim the Somalis were really Americans in disguise. That would be a cool story spin.

Since when did the leaders of Iran give two shiats what their people think and bow to their will? And the mullahs are the 'faith' in Iran. I don't think you have the slightest clue what you're talking about.

All the information is in the article - it's just not presented coherently. The timeline is:

A. A few weeks ago an Iranian fishing boat is hijacked
B. Last weekend a senior Iranian military dude says that the US has no legitimate reason to be there
C. US rescues Iranian crew, scores major pwnage

Well I guess this makes up for ousting their prime minister, installing a dictator for 30 years, and giving our buddy Saddam weapons and intelligence to kill a quarter million of their boys so we could keep gas in our tanks.
