Butts is with the Placentia Police Department.

Now they're just making stuff up.

He was holding what appeared to be a handgun, and when a deputy ordered him to put it down, her refused, authorities said.

Her did, did her?

A. If you pretend to have a gun, somebody might believe your threats, and you might be able to rob somebody.
B. If you pretend to have a gun, somebody might believe your threats, and you might end up dead.
Both apply.

I don't get the MSFT reference.

The cops should have recognized the gun was fake and then fired a warning shot or maybe fired a warning shot to see if the suspect would shoot back proving the suspect had intent to use violence against the officer in case he was holding a real gun.

Then if proved to be a real handgun another officer should have gotten a matress to put behind the suspect in case the other officer knocked him to the ground using a fist, taser, jedi mind trick or a 185 grain lead projectile....aiming to wound of course

The wounded suspect was taken to a hospital, where he was in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, Butts said.

That's one of them million dollar wounds, aint it?

Also..

Approach, and repeat ultimatum in an even firmer tone of voice. Add the words, "or else".

Then drag your foot across the ground drawing an imaginary line. Say "I dare you to step across that line."

Am I the only one who can't figure why bank guards don't tell people to take their hats off when they walk through the door?

Oh man... and that was a correction.

[For the record, 9:42 a.m. Jan. 6: A previous version of this post incorrectly stated that Sgt. Brad Butts was with the L.A. County Sheriff's Department. Butts is with the Placentia Police Department.]

Awesome.

Because they'd be getting told to f*ck off every five minutes.

The fact that you've got "Replica" written down the side of your guns...
And the fact that I've got "Desert Eagle point five O"...
Written down the side of mine

"Authorities said bank surveillance video may not be helpful because the men were wearing baseball caps and shirts buttoned up to their necks. They also kept their heads tilted down to hide their faces."

That's good to know.

Wrong. Only if the suspect shot AND the bullet trajectory was proven to be heading for a vital area of an officer could the police assume that the suspect had intent to use violence. This is to eliminate the unfortunate incidents of the alleged criminal firing a warning shot for the police and it being misconstrued as an attack by some gung-ho commandos.

WTF? Why would you want to make someone shoot at you? If your holding something, and you don't put it down, you get shot. Why is that so difficult for people to understand?

Not until I close my account they won't. The solution to crime isn't treating everybody like they are criminals.

Now piss off with your authoritarianism you scared little man.

If I'm in line at the bank I'm usually fiddling with cards, bills, cheques, cash, etc so I don't hold up the line when I get to the counter like a douche. I ain't juggling my hat as well.

Besides, bank robberies are really rare and people getting hurt during them is almost unheard of these days. If they really want a pic of my face they can set up a friggen camera at face level at the front door.

They should have shot the fake gun out of his hand.

What kind of brain trust refuses when ordered to put down a fake gun? Does he think he can will it into having a firing pin and a chambered round?
