That being said, it's not a great idea to bike on MLK or Grand - they are busy streets without bike lanes. There's a bike boulevard just a block or two over.

And if this was a car driver instead of it being a bike rider, the Farkers in this thread would be complaining about the cops giving this guy a ticket.

I don't hate bicyclists or motorcyclists to any special degree though, they're just the same asswipes I was yelling at the other day on the interstate when they cut me off in their car.

I think that's what everyone operating any kind of vehicle needs reminded of: Better late then dead. Because if you would rather have dead, I can arrange it for you without endangering the lives of others.

I just remember to assume that every vehicle on the road is out to destroy me whether I'm in the bike lane or not. The law might be on my side if I'm acting appropriately, but I don't care for my principled stance so much when I'm flattened on the pavement.

That being said, it's not a great idea to bike on MLK or Grand - they are busy streets without bike lanes. There's a bike boulevard just a block or two over.

With the new rail lines on those streets, they're even less bike-friendly. Vancouver and Williams are the way to go, when some douche isn't throwing tacks into the bike lanes (I wonder what that douche's Fark handle is).

So this guy a) didn't know where to ride, and b) didn't know how to ride...my sympathy meter for him is where it would be for any idiot who gets hurt in traffic, no matter what they ride/drive. Hope he's all right, and I hope he pays for the paint he scratched.

In Chicago, the cyclists are always running red lights. Sometimes, they don't even stop and look. It is like these people have no survival instinct.

I'm a cyclist, but never ride on the street because of assholes in cars. Fortunately, I have lots of river trails by my house.

You car drivers who don't yield are assholes who should go to prison if you kill a cyclist. But I'll fight this fight in Internet forums, not on the road. I'd rather live to taunt you fat diabetic farks, than die getting run over by you.

I had a cyclist almost run me over yesterday on the Burnside bridge. There are bike lanes on both sides moran! Not only was he on the sidewalk but he was going against traffic. Hipster on a fixie - tremendous douchcanoe. But his ironic mustache was gloriously flapping in the breeze as he passed. I have no sympathy for Portland cyclists. Especially the idiots on doubledecker bikes - how the hell do they stop at at red light? I've only ever seen them in motion.

Proper lane usuage isn't just a good idea it will keep you alive.

The worst are the Critical mASS-holes... nothing like bringing sympathy to your cause like farking up traffic in major cities on the last Friday of the month. Yes bicycle riders are entitled to use the roads, but they are subject to the same traffic laws. Try reasoning with one of those clowns when they are in their mob mentality.

Instead of lifting, I wish they had all climbed on the car and jumped up and down.

I live near a very busy 4 lane RD. It is more of an east / west thoroughfare that is a HWY on each side of town. No room for more than one car in each lane. Barely that, and the avg. speed is about 45 mph.

Some spandex wearing douche will get on there and ride for 10-15 blocks backing everyone up, and endangering 100s of people before it is over.

What irks me is one block either direction are perfectly good alternative, quiet neighborhood streets that you could take, which I often do. There are also sidewalks that are almost always empty. No reason to endanger yourself and 100s of others unless you are a complete jackwad.

It is a combo death wish / attention whore complex I have decided.

That said, I stay off the roads as much as I can and use the extensive bike paths through Eugene, even if it is a little out of my way. Far too many people are jackwads in cars because they're hating on bicyclists that do dangerous things, and I've been nearly hit while in the bike lane by someone edging their car out of of a driveway and into the bike lane.

I'd rather be a little more fit from the extra exercise than be dead because I was in a hurry.
