FTFA:

either one of those guys will beat Obama handily.

Awesome. Now we'll never have to read another article by John Podhoretz about this election because it's already been decided.

Santorum is intelligent and knowledgeable and is the most commanding voice on foreign affairs in the field

Wow. I'm speechless.

it made the Republican Party look foolish and silly, not serious and sober in facing the problems of the present with solutions for the future.

Does not approve.

FTA: The three-way victory in the Iowa caucuses last night reveals just what a catastrophe for the Republican Party the Year of 16 Debates was.

It wasn't the debates, it was the candidates. What a sorry bunch of sad sacks. If those are the best the Republicans can come up with then it's time to roll up the carpet and close shop.

I'd say "yes," but you and I both know that they won't stop whining after Obama wins. So more like 60 more months.

Huntsman easily has the most foreign policy experience in the Republican field (ambassador to two countries).

Of course, Obama has more foreign policy experience than any of the Republicans, since he's already been President for three years now.

And I have to admit, I am totally amused by the "Stomatognathic disease" tag on this article. I had to look it up.

Seriously. Zombie Goldwater would mop the floor with these clowns (though, perhaps RONPAUL = Zombie Goldwater...).

OK, any Rockefeller Republican would mop the floor with these guys. Bloomberg could (not a Republican, but a conservative nonetheless). Mitch Daniels probably could have (if he could escape the derp). HW Bush could have. Bob Dole would destroy this crew.

Shiat, my Republican friend Jesse Daniel would obliterate them.

// I'd vote for him for president in a heartbeat
// he unsuccessfully ran for DA of Indiana County, PA last year
// might be a bit raw for the Big Chair, though

Optimist.

You've got 10 months of this crap, than a lifetime of "He stole the election" crap.

Considering how long they invoked the memory of Jimmy Carter, I'll guess it'll be like 20 more years of whining, regardless of whether his second term's a success or not.

The Republicans just love coming up with new corporatespeak ways of expressing frustration. This guy just happens to add a really pathetic attempt at concern-trolling on top of it. And then he backs Santorum.

Judging by his face, I imagine he pays for rentboys.

Infinity more months of this crap, or until the rightists try another armed rebellion and are crushed again.

I feel sorry for the Republicans. They are stuck with an anhedonic anti-abortion crank whose wife had a late term abortion or a cultist who, in the current wishy washy please-everybody administration, is politically not all that different than the standing president.

At least they have the comfort of knowing they may take both houses...but I bet Obama gets all veto-y in his second term.

"...it made the Republican Party look foolish and silly, not serious and sober in facing the problems of the present with solutions for the future."

But the republican Party is foolish and silly, it is not serious and sober in facing the problems of the present. The republican Party is concerned solely with regaining the White House to that can concern itself once again with making sure its cronies are well rewarded for their loyalty and the opposition is duly punished for its effrontery. Deal with the problems of the present? To those well-insulated from the recession, the only problems are making sure their financial and social privileges, and those of their children, are protected. Anyone suffering from the effects of the financial meltdown ipso facto is of no interest to the republican Party.

bdub77: It's only January. Do I seriously have to put up with 10 more months of this crap?

Nt only that but you then have to put up with a couple of months of post election analysis, claims of foul play and general complaints about the winner. Then there will be a few months of what would be a political quiet time, but will be filled with some artificial partisan controversy, like an oil pipeline. That shiat will quieter down just in time for the run-up to the mid term elections and overly drawn out campaigns and then media analysis during lame duck sessions. Then there's ony a few short months before the pre-campaign begins for the open position at the White House.

Perpetual Campaign is more profitable to the oligarchs and the congresscritters they bribe than actual governance.
