Does that now make it Comic Sans?

San Diego Comic Con itself died in 1995 when it began to whore itself out to every Hollywood studio around in some insecure desire to "become mainstream". The bastardized doppleganger that takes place there every Summer is a gigantic engine of ripoff now.

Nah, it just set the tone for the comics industry as a whole.

It does make you wish, though, that someone would hold a real Comic Con in San Diego on the same days as the San Diego Entertainment Con.

Six parsecs?
Wow!
That's half the time -- er, distance -- it took the Millenium Falcon to do the Kessel run!

He was such a nice guy- we ( friends of Madhonib and I ) had breakfast with him at Jimmy Carters in San Diego a few years back when Pooter hosted a San Diego Fark Party .

Rip man who recommended a good beer for breakfast

Richard was counted in my top thirteen
of people I really liked.
He is going to be missed very much.
I'm really glad I was able to visit with him awhile
the last time I was in his neighborhood. .
I never thought it would be our last visit.
until we meet again in the summerlands...
good travels my friend.

If you're interested in the art part of Comic Con, then check out Trickster instead. (new window) It's literally right across the street (and the trolley tracks) from the convention center.

I thought Melmac blew up.

It looked that way from Gordon's point-of-view, but it was just an unfortunate accident at an Orbit Guard facility he was stationed at.

As a night watchman.
