I would not call it fakery exactly. Call it 'sleigh of hand' if you want to call it out.

We all want to believe a young and attractive Russian woman is riding her motorcycle through a Chernobyl. It Pulls you in. Then you see what happened, some photos may have not been from that trip. The photos get put together in a proper sequence to draw people in regardless of who actually took them.

From what I read the person who did this photo internet-journalism piece did not ask for money, they wanted to show people the clusterfook and lies that happened after.

While more than half of their userbase is Russian now, their headquarters are still in the states for legal and tax reasons, I believe.
