There are several people hurting in this thread, and we haven't heard from Alien yet, which worries me. She hasn't posted on Facebook in a while, either. Hope she's OK. For those of you hurting, remember better days do come. Today was one for me, so I'll share a brief timeline:
Steven woke us up wanting to cuddle, which we did for a while.
Phineas and Ferb and Steven and coffee and Caturday.
Melissa made breakfast today (usually my job on Saturdays) and I wore Brenna around while she did it.
Off to Lubbock (45 minutes one way) for car parts with Steven assisting.
Have to wait on parts, so go to park and have picnic and feed ducks and play on equipment like a 260# kid.
Drive home, fix car.
Get started making better shelves for my brewspace.
Drink homebrewed blackberry ale while I do it.
Good supper.
More shelf work and start some pork in the smoker for church luncheon tomorrow. Gonna check the fire and water and head to bed.
Type this, reread before posting, realize how blessed I am, notice it's dusty in here.
Goodnight all, have a good tomorrow as well.

syzygy whizz: tigerose: Good Meowning! laughed at the coffee reference....I am down to my last coffee filter. On nos!

Eli is sitting on the back of the couch, squeezing his eyes shut at me. Happy kitteh!

I have a question. Ever since Eli had his URI his voice has been really scratchy. The URI is gone, but his hoarseness remains. If he were hooman I'd give him tea and honey.....can cats get laryngitis?

I've used paper towels as a emergency substitute coffee filter...
I don't drink coffee very often, but sometimes my houseguests do and I pride myself on serving 'the good stuff'.
My favorite is a blend of Columbian Supremo (medium roast) and Espresso (dark roast) beans mixed 1:1. Makes a 'full-mouth' flavor and wakes ya up a treat!
On the rare occasions I take it, I do so with real milk (cream if I have it).
Hey, if we're gonna do this, let's do it RIGHT!
Right?

I'm also known to serve small steaks and cheesy herby 'shroomy omlettes for breffuss...
BRB, door is knocking all of a sudden.

When I was given the orphan filly I had to find a source of milk for her. I could not afford or even find foal milk re -placer. I was worried since the mare had no colostrum to give her foal. I bought a goat and found that she was not broke to milk and only gave a cup or two of milk at a time, I found a woman up the road that sold raw cow milk for a dollar a gallon. I could not let the foal have all the fat in cows milk so I had to let it sit overnight and skim a pint of thick cream off of every gallon. Filly Delfiea was successfully raised on a mix of 1 cup goat milk, 1 cup skim cow milk, and one cup water.
I was stuck with a lot of cream so I started using it in my coffee, best coffee ever!
Also showed the kids how to make butter. The pancakes made with fresh eggs, real buttermilk, and topped with real fresh butter were out of this world. They rose 3/4 of an inch thick and so light they would melt in your mouth.

Yup, I have blood pressure (a tad high but I take meds), blood too....seems I am real. I bet everyone else here is real too.

I think there are those who just don't get that you can care about someone that you have never met. That you worry about them. That you laugh at their cats antics, you cry when they lose a furry friend or family member. That you care about them.

btw, I AM real, so is this cat....who just saved our back yard from a kitty intruder!!!

I think he doesnt' want another cat in the house......4 is enough

and yes, I know....have at it! Wanted show off the brave kitty who save us from that kitty who dared, DARED to be in our back yard while the boys were on the patio!

yobbery: wakeangel: anyone else refreshing every couple minutes hoping for post or update from Alien?

Just checked FB (I hate FB and feel dirty now.) Last seen yesterday morning in a response to her sister.

I sent her a message late yesterday and another just after church today. No reply.

sllink1: I lurvs your posts.

I'm getting sentimental in my senescence.

catmandu: DingleberryMoose: tigerose: DingleberryMoose glad you could put in some "boy" time. It is important.

Yes, it is. The TV wasn't on after Phineas and Ferb, so we got lots of time. Steven made me a "present." Two pieces of wood bound with a shock cord, colored here and there with red magic marker, and with a few drywall screws screwed part way in. It shall live on the shelves we are making forever.

Will you be my Daddy???????????????????????

//Steven is a lucky little guy. I have a feeling he will grow up to be a good man just like his dad.

I see you're female. Send me BIE and I'll see if we can arrange something. (Kidding, just kidding!) I pretty much got none of that as a kid. Mom was abusive, dad was distant. I kind of make it up as I go along, trying to remember what I wanted/needed. Sometimes I fear I'm doing it wrong or going overboard. Then Steven runs up and jumps up and expects me to catch him (I haven't missed yet) and grabs me and hugs me right there in the parts house with guys all around and I'm lost in my kid again and think I may be on to something. Brenna was a bit fussy during church (she's fighting RSV) and I walked around in the fellowship hall just outside the sanctuary with her in the carrier that's in my profile and she went to sleep. Boy, did I get the oohs and aahs from the grannies.

/I always worry I'm doing it wrong, always

I LOL'd. Especially on the second picture.

Is Moo a *special* Kitty? Don't say anything to her. I don't want to offend her but it looks like there might be some derp.

Ralphie looks like he has a lot of the derp but he is one of the smartest cats I've seen.

Oh there is plenty of derp going on with Moo. She spends hours licking the walls. Definitely the dumbest cat I've ever had. Thankfully she has looks, because she certainly hasn't got brains.

There's something extra lovable going on with *slow* kitties.

Yes I'm looking at you Moo, Juno and Biscuit.

Does Ashe qualify?

He was a good cat. My mom trained him and his sister Susie to jump up and sit on you when you patted your lap. Also he secretly helped me eat all my green peas, I'd sneak them to him under the dinner table, it was a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Salem Witch: I love Steven.

Me, too. He was helping me fix the car just a minute ago. Turns out I needed sway bars and not a wheel hub, but he wanted to help either way. Drug out my good claw hammer and a crowbar for me, and I had to find some way to use them so I wouldn't hurt his feelings. Then I let him run the electric impact wrench to take off the wheels and he was good to go.

CATS..AAARRRRRGGH!

D'Artagnan and Raven had a vet appointment this morning to get their ears reamed checked and cleaned if necessary...and so what does D'Artagnan do but go AWOL until 2:30PM...when he comes sailing in the window and proceeds to charm my case manager with his waving tail and big creaky purr (not to mention anklewinds and headbumps) "Such a friendly kitty!" she exclaims, scritching his big royal head...
No really...the boy has a big, regal noggin...very handsome, actually...

Then Raven starts in with boxing the chains hanging from the light fixture in the computer room. I decide I want a pic of this for comparison to the one I took two weeks ago (she's having a growth spurt) and what does she do but decide to take a nap instead?

And now Wimsey (all 14 lbs of him) wants to cuddle in my left arm while I'm trying to read the Caturday stuff...that boy is just TOO DAMN BIG (not fat, just he's a BIG CAT) for an extended one-arm cuddle.

I have NO IDEA where Riktor is or what he's doing...and it's probably best that way.

But I love them and can't see myself doing without them...and wouldn't want to either.
Hope they don't try to 'help' too much with the painting I've got to do in the bathroom...means baths (and minor reconstructive surgery) all around if they do.

/ Yeah, they're sweet, cooperative and trusting...but I've never had to bathe Riktor or D'Artagnan...and I'd sorta like to keep it that way. Those boys tend to play by their own rules...and they have the teeth, claws, muscle, and speed to enforce them.

D'Artagnan being all regal (Riktor in the background)...

Sun Spot

Here sit and while away
The hours of the day.

Alone in the light
Such a beautiful sight,

Sunlight on the fur,
Listen and we'll purr.

Until at the last the heat,
Makes us beat a hasty retreat.

We hide in the Shade,
Contemplate the Blades.

Until at last the Sun does set
We appear at the door to be let,

Into our home so comfy and warm,
Onto your chair we'll swarm.

And snuggle in for a well deserved nap!

Hop Along Cattiday: I had to Check out Ghost in the Shell to see what you were talking about...Kool Stuff...It took me a while to get used to having to Read the Subtitles...I may have to invest in that Evelyn Woods Speed Reading Course Afterall....

If you have access to Netflix, they do have it available for streaming, and it's actually a very good English dub if you don't wanna mess with subtitles. Me, I'm a purist, and I normally HATE dubs with the fire of a thousand blue stars, but now and then some company puts a bit of effort into it, and GiTS is one of the few that are good. Still, I'm watching it subbed off of my hard drive, if anything else to keep myself in a bit of practice with my Japanese. Seriously, I highly recommend this series for just about anyone, even if anime normally triggers a, "Ugh, creepy porn-fanatics" reflex. Like the episode I'm on now, where the Tachikoma (networked Artificial Intelligences) debate the concept of what it is to have individuality and a "soul" or "self" is pretty freaking interesting.

And to get back on topic, here's Sassy happily asleep atop the laundry hamper. (Old pic that I've posted before, but again, I'm still away from home.)

Hi guys! Long time since I have posted. I and my now giant clowder are all doing well. My friend, her teen daughter and teen roomate moved in with me, along with their three cats. We are at six people and nine cats. It is working out really well and in a shakey economy we all feel more stable. I am excited that My Cat From Hell at animal planet is back tonight. I recomend it. It has helped me make my kitties happier. My husband, however gets annoyed by the name. He thinks it should be something like "My asshole boyfriend/girlfriend is a dick to my cat." anyone else see the first season?

Holy crap! Scary! Hopefully no one was hurt.

Hoses were everywhere and the new QJ-Mobile was penned in by fire apparatus.
That stood out because with everything around it, I wouldn't be able to go to the all-night hushpuppy place for hushpuppies and beer, because in Indy, it's against the law to drive over a firehose.

The firefighters knew what they were doing. Stopping you from going anywhere in the hushpuppymobile prevented the potential creation of a significant amount of noxious, flammable gas. They couldn't take that chance.

Safety first, eh.

Well...
We've had some excitement here at Casa Del QJ.
At 2:30 FRIGGING A.M. I was awakened by loud noises.
Then I realized it smelled funny.
Then I realized there were all kinds of bright, red, flashing lights out front.

The house next door was on fire! GEEZ!!!

I looked out the door, and there are seven (SEVEN!!!) firetrucks lined up out on the street.

Hey there, Caturday crew!

Two-legged cats are awesome, in my book. Us odd-numbered limb-havers (anonymous) must unite, and get really cool prosthetics with lasers and...and claws, and...and.... Well, human prosthetics have a long way to go; I can only imagine that the ones they make for cats are probably way better than hoomin ones because of the size (smaller=cheaper=more to spend on coolness=nice cat prosthetics).

Or, at the very least, mine. I could never get used to it. Ma made me wear a prosthetic hand when I was 13/14, and I kept forgetting it everywhere. I did it on purpose in H.S. once to freak out the cheerleaders, as one of them had to walk it to me down the hall...she wasn't a very pleasant person to me, so I really don't feel badly about it. :) It always made me wonder why the idea of a plastic hand squicked them out so badly, but, they were squicked out by my missing a hand as it was--without the fake part. The fake hand 'prank' evened the field, and I was, if not 'cool', then *respected* or *normal-ish* by most after that, I think. You can't get more harmless than that prank, but it was the only way I could stand up to them. Cats that get hurt or that are born that way need *us* to stand up a little for them, really.

My point? Adopt those cats/dogs with missing limbs! They'll love you the same, and they are just as cute--I really do feel passionate about these particular cats and dogs, as they aren't 'rejects' or 'mistakes', just different. And anyone that hurts an animal to the point where a limb must be removed is a serial killer in the making. Grr. If I ever were to be a millionaire, I'd donate a ton to disabled-pet rescue.

/sorry to rant; this hits close to home for me
