Well...
We've had some excitement here at Casa Del QJ.
At 2:30 FRIGGING A.M. I was awakened by loud noises.
Then I realized it smelled funny.
Then I realized there were all kinds of bright, red, flashing lights out front.

The house next door was on fire! GEEZ!!!

I looked out the door, and there are seven (SEVEN!!!) firetrucks lined up out on the street.
Hoses were everywhere and the new QJ-Mobile was penned in by fire apparatus.
That stood out because with everything around it, I wouldn't be able to go to the all-night hushpuppy place
for hushpuppies and beer, because in Indy, it's against the law to drive over a firehose.

So I got out my camera (it takes good pictures) and took some photographs.
(It also takes good photographs!)
Needless to say (but I'll still say it) I'm now wide awake.

Those are EMT's standing by the QJ-Mobile. Neither one is Micromedic or baka-san.

Being a natural-born smart-ass, every night as she heads to bed I always tell her...
"I'll try to not play with matches, much..."

I may need to come up with another line until things clam down around here.

Holy crap! Scary! Hopefully no one was hurt.

The firefighters knew what they were doing. Stopping you from going anywhere in the hushpuppymobile prevented the potential creation of a significant amount of noxious, flammable gas. They couldn't take that chance.

Safety first, eh.

I hope things are calming down out there and you can get some sleep soon.

Pics of saddle pad? I bought a big fuzzy one at a used tack sale for 4 bucks. I haz teh cheap!

Glad I waited, it went on sale so I got the new felt cinch as well. It is a cut back pad with lots of room for his withers and is built up in the front as well. It also has solid felt 1" thick in the rest of it and a fuzzy underside. Hope it's not too hot in the summer.

I told her we were discussing her Creations and that there was a question as to whether she was still on this side of the Bridge ...She has a toll free # on her website and I asked if she was still around & they handed the phone over to her. Nice Lady! she asked me also to email her directly to let her know about Caturday... I gave her a brief explanation and told her what sparked the discussion...She remembered the Sweet Adeline International Contest when I described the Pin and where it had been obtained....BTW the Link works Fine!

Call Toll Free # 800-670-3703 9am-9pm EST 7 days/week

That's so cool.

How's the knee? Feeling better I hope.

I am Still Alive & Kickin' :}
Last night I was transferred to LifeCare Hospitals of Plano, TX... it's an LTAC - Long Term Acute Care Facility...I am currently scheduled for 6 weeks IV Antibiotics...so I will be away from My Furkids for a while longer:*{
I thought over all the Pro's/Con's about Going Home and Staying in an "Institutional Setting"...I MUST Be CRAZY since I chose the "Institution"
But I Live Alone and Last wknd Labs showed extreme Drop in Potassium, Calcium & Magnesium levels that required 2 days of IV Infusions & Potassium Pills 4x/day to get my levels back up to Normal....I didn't feel any different but it could have been dangerous if undetected...In the Hospital they get Lab results back same day & Doc to respond...That was one of the biggest reasons.
I know 6 wks sounds like a Long time but by the time I'm outta here I should be able to Drive...Fingers Etc Crossed....Gee I wonder if Braiding My Hair Counts??
But Overall I feel Good...especially once the IT team here was able to get me online! I actually got to View the Thread after 2nd comment...then had to pack up to leave before I could do more than check out the story & Video...I spent the rest of Last ni ...

Hopefully we can help keep you amused and make the next six weeks fly by.

Good saddles are godawful expensive and much more susceptible to weather damage than horses (although my sister-in-law's two lazies might disagree).

Meowoofer desires to remain well-informed of the events of the day. The only things she's clawed recently are her scratching pad and Steven's forearms. Apparently he requires much training. He seems to think she should want to cuddle whenever he's ready to cuddle. She sometimes disagrees. I don't know when he's going to figure that out, but I hope it's soon. Steven's parents pretty much cuddle at will. Meowoofer, not so much.

Biscuit likes to steal wrappers and small stuff off my desk. He's not really good at it. He knows he's being bad and gets too excited....always ends up dropping whatever it is before he can get away.

He grabbed a candy wrapper once. He tried to run but the way he grabbed it resulted in half of the wrapper over his nose blocking his view. He ended up stumbling backwards while doing the best Stevie Wonder imitation I've ever seen. One of these days I'm going get him to repeat it on camera.

One time I bring a horse in the living room and I can never live it down!
It was a Morgan filly that was given to me when the blind 32 year old dam had no milk and could not take care of her.

That is why I buy them used, rather have someone else break them in and pay the high fees for new. The English in the background is Courbette that is probably 30 years old. The western is a half synthetic for Mountain that is lighter in weight than the Corbette, and fits him better. He came to me with an old back injury and the western saddle distributes my weight better on his back. He is doing much better now that he is not locked in a stall at night and has lots of room to move around. I will have to get pictures of him running and bucking, Hope he does not try that with me on him.

Gd Meowning Gd Folk. 9 AM isn't really early, I been up for an hour but was waylaid by cat tales/tails in sendings from Care2Causes that were save-worthy. Dunno what I'm going to do with all those full-story .docs, besides life pix for here from 'em.
q_j, Fang Q for the Chessie PS to the napping ginger kitten pic James72 brought. When we went to see the holiday train exhibit at Union Terminal before Christmas (when the Free Pass Except for Parking was still in effect), I bought a copy of the actual Chessie book. I think it was marked down a little, since I hardly ever buy anything that isn't on sale. Bought a couple other things that actually weren't on sale, which I hope I can find, because they were itty bitty.
Type at ft of page 1 -- more sympathy to yellowcat for time required to wade thru last 2 Caturdays. Christmas was 1363, New Year's an even 1400, which may or may not be records for here. yellowcat, you may have seen John Buck 41's comment (possibly in the Christmas issue) that "maybe we can get Double KiloKitty!" or words to that effect. 1400 proved just how much effort that would require -- concentrating posters, posting almost constantly. sherpa has said maybe repeatedly, "It's the quality of the posts that matters, not the quantity."
Sliding on to pg 2 ....

Did I really say that? I don't recall. But then again I don't recall a lot of posts I make on Fark...esp. on the weekends ifyaknowwhatimean.

Hi guys! Long time since I have posted. I and my now giant clowder are all doing well. My friend, her teen daughter and teen roomate moved in with me, along with their three cats. We are at six people and nine cats. It is working out really well and in a shakey economy we all feel more stable. I am excited that My Cat From Hell at animal planet is back tonight. I recomend it. It has helped me make my kitties happier. My husband, however gets annoyed by the name. He thinks it should be something like "My asshole boyfriend/girlfriend is a dick to my cat." anyone else see the first season?

Hai Everybuddy...Happy Caturday.

Cooper is not having a very fun Caturday. On Thursday, Mr CDK noticed that Cooper was peeing very little and what little he was peeing was pretty bloody. (sigh...here we go again). He took Coop into the vet and his bladder was not full so he gave us some antibiotics and some of that gooshy food that Cooper hates and sent us home. We have been hoping that the cystitis and infection would have gotten a little better by now but Coop seems to be doing a little worse this morning. Only peeing very small spots of bloody urine. He would not eat this morning but Mr CDK was at least able to get a pill and 3cc's of water into him but an hour later, he threw up the water that he was given. We are taking him back to the vet this morning at 11:30 to see how his bladder is feeling and if necessary, we'll be taking him to the emergency clinic.

This is Cooper's 3rd strike. If there is a blockage this time, he will need to get the P.U. surgery. Please send good thoughts and prayers his way. He could really use it. We'll update you when we get back from the vet. Thanks everyone!!

In the kitty-wolrld, he's offering you his business card, downloading a shiatload (no pun intended, honest!) of Twitter info and the 'family update' letter some people send during the Yule holiday.
Just letting you know how he's doing and what's going on in his life right now.

It does make me giggle sometimes watching the kitties get this info from each other...
t'other night I thought D'Artagnan wanted to make a feline centipede with Raven. He was sniffin', and she just...kept...walkin'.

Strangely, he's been much friendlier towards Raven since then...wonder what he smelled that changed his attitude.
And no, it isn't 'girl kitty in heat' pheromones...Raven was spayed over a month ago and her fur has all grown back.
