I think it's a typo, they meant 'geezer', not 'geek'. He wouldn't know a scientific fact if he left his invalid wife while she was in the hospital for it...

Now Jon Huntsman might be a geek, his family heads up a world class cancer research hospital, you should have hear my wife talk about all their wonderful toys...

Newsmax, WND, American Stinker maybe. But this? Really?

Githerax: He wouldn't even know which direction to hold the magazine, much less be able to read the title.

I didn't bother to read the article but he does have a science and tech streak to him including being a lover of technology and a supporter of zoos. That doesn't mean he understands the science and he frequently misinterprets it but compared to the other candidates on the GOP side - he is a fark'n genius in this regard.

/still a fark'n unethical immoral blowhard

Considering that most of them are global warming deniers, or have become deniers after flip flopping, I am surprised. I thought Gingrich was walking back his old statements on the subject? Too lazy to look it up.

If Gingrich really is the most knowledgeable about science/technology, I am going to throw up a little.

This is obviously just a liberal conspiracy to smear Newt by insinuating that he's one of them egg-headed, elitist scientists getting fat off of grant money.

Yeah, but did they found a world renowned cancer research center and teaching college? It wasn't the fact that he was tangentially associated with this that I threw it out there, it was the level of technical excellence that his family's center has become.

If you were to lock Callista in a box with a glass vial of carcinogen and a radioactive substance with a 50% chance of decaying and breaking the vial, Newt would be both married and divorced until you opened the box and performed a blood test.

CANCER?! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT A CANCER IS?!
CANCER IS A SMALL PIECE OF DEATH
THAT SLOWLY TAKES OVER A BODY!

WHEN I WAS YOUNG I SAW IT HAPPEN!
A CANCER TOOK MY FATHER AND TURNED HIM TO DEATH!!
IF HE WAS HERE TODAY I WOULDN'T LET HAPPEN!

MY WHOLE LIFE I'VE BEEN TRAINING!
UNTILL I UNDERSTAND IT ALL!!
NOW I KNOW EVERYTHING!

I HAVE TOUCHED PEOPLE INSIDE!
IT'S NOT LIKE IN THE BOOKS!
EVERYONE IS THE SAME ON THE OUTSIDES...
BUT BIZARRE ON THE INSIDES!

I KNOW HOW TO CURE A CANCER!
BUT PEOPLE WILL NOT LISTEN!
WHY DON'T YOU LISTEN?!"
LISTEN! LISTEN! LISTEN!

YOU AND YOUR ETHIC...
HOW MANY CANCERS HAVE THEY CURED?
TO KILL A CANCER YOU HAVE TO SHOOT IT!
IT'S METHOD CAN'T FAIL!!

A PERSON IS A SMALL PRICE TO PAY
WHEN YOU FIGHT WITH A CANCER!
YOU HAVE TO THINK LIKE A STAR!!

Stop perpetuating the lie that this angry, doughy troll is intelligent.

I guess that I'm a bit confused about the definition of geek. Little did I know that it meant a lying, adulterous, morbidly obese, criminal. From now on, I'm really going to be insulted when people call me a geek.

He's also pro science/evolution. For a Mormon, he's extremely flexible in the beliefs department and has no problem acquiescing to objective fact.

I don't think he's really that angry a person. He is, however, an arrogant, unethical, manipulative, selfish asshole. There's a difference.

It's actually true that he is more intelligent than most of this year's crop of Republican candidates (granted, that's not an incredible achievement), and in years when he wasn't busy pandering to the Republican base, he showed interest in a surprising variety of scientific issues. However, he's willing to disavow/renounce belief in any particular solid piece of science, if he thinks there's political advantage in doing so.

Also, while he's smarter than a number of his colleagues, he doesn't have anywhere near as great an intellect as he fancies himself having -- a character flaw that supplies him with undue confidence in the soundness of his reckless ideas and schemes
.
I'd say the song most appropriate to him isn't "If I Only Had a Brain"; it's "If I Only Had a Heart".

/And of course, he could do with a good deal less confidence

2012-01-06 12:38:17 AM
Newt isn't a geek. He probably needs help to check his email.

In the land of the blind...

I think you drastically overestimate how much any politician knows about anything but the politics of getting himself elected.
Most of this debacle boils down to one politician disagreeing with another politician on a topic that neither understands.
So that means one must be Anti-Science?

/I think we're being trolled on a national scale.
/and it ain't by Scientific American.
