If you can't get a prescription cough syrup, don't even bother. OTC cough syrup literally doesn't work, and this is backed up by study after study.

But because it's safe and won't hurt you, it can still be sold, and the manufacturers will be happy to do so.

The worst tasting, and best cough syrup is Buckley's original which of course is not available in the USA.

Actually, a version of it is available in the USA but big pharma ruined it by putting the same medicinal ingredient into it that's in evey other cough suppressant on the same shelf, negating the whole point of its herbal goodness.

The original version without the dextrocraporphan in it is only available in Canada, where they generally do OTC medicines better than the Americans in the first place.

Codeine makes me hallucinate something fierce anyways, but not in a good way. It's more of an "OMG SCORPIONS ARE CRAWLING ALL OVER ME OH GOD GET THEM OFF OF ME!!!!!" kind a way.

I'm right there with you. I dreaded getting sick as a kid. Not because of the actual illness, but because I hated drinking the damn cough syrup (it's the aftertaste that really gets me). Since I moved out I haven't touched a single drop of that liquid ass. Liquigels all the way man.

Nahh, you want to taste test something, you want something that will really put the fear of death into any cough, you want something THAT YOUR BODY WILL GET BETTER RATHER THAN TASTE IT AGAIN, there's only one remedy. And yes, it's sold in the United States.

I will have to put in my vote for the Mucinex. Yes, it's vile shiat. It works like a friggin' charm, for me, anyway, a cough suppressant that doesn't make me drown in my own mucus. That's a big deal, and it also doesn't make me sleepy, so i can take it in the morning.

I see this woman who wrote the article shops for medicine like most Americans, with no regard to the ingredients and differences between them, but purely on the basis of flavor.

To begin with you you have a dry cough that needs suppressing, or mucus that needs to be loosened and coughed up? If you have a lot of phlegm you'd better not be trying to suppress it. Totally different ingredients for different situations, dummy.

Short answer: no.
Long answer: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Drinking the bottle != pure extract. There's way more drunk to it. You will vomit, and possibly before you metabolize enough DXM, leaving you with a body buzz and feeling ill for your $10. If you were so inclined, I'd point you at the Zycam chewables and tell you to eat a handful. You'd have to eat something like a case to OD, but make sure you're taking ONLY DXM, no matter what is your substance of choice, as high intake of acetaminophen, guaifenesin, and the like isn't exactly the best idea.

Final warning: DISASSOCIATIVES ARE NOT HALLUCINOGENS. The mechanism is entirely different. DXM has more in common with ketamine than it does with LSD.

Yellow Triaminic. That shiat was so god-awful, I'd fake being better so my mother wouldn't give it to me. When I think "liquid death", that's the first thing that comes to mind. I can still remember the taste of that crap, and I haven't had it in probably 20 years now.
