Bums. Why don't they get a job? There's plenty of them out there, right?

2012-01-05 11:41:41 AM
Hey remember in October, 2008, when the American economy started shedding 500,000 jobs per month? Totally Obama's presidential policies. Because everyone knows that when a country loses millions of jobs in a matter of months, it only takes days to get everyone back to work if we had GOP policies.

2012-01-05 11:42:47 AM
Because a blog poster says so.

You mean many students don't have jobs?

Lazy bastards.

It also indicates that the vast majority - A MAJORITY - of McCain supported didn't have jobs either.

Old bastards.

Lionel Mandrake: Bums. Why don't they get a job? There's plenty of them out there, right?

Of course there are. Since the Republicans took over the house in 2010, we've got more farking jobs than we know what to do with.

2012-01-05 11:47:42 AM
Well, the employed didn't want to take off time to vote for fear of losing their jobs.

And since when does a 16 year old vote for President, anyway?

FTA:

The sobering reality: just 55.3 percent of Americans between 16 and 29 have jobs. And earlier this year, Americans' student loan debt surpassed credit card debt for the first time ever.

Hey, wouldn't it be crazy if those facts were somehow related?

I mean, I wonder what a lot of Americans between ages 16 and 29 are doing all week long?

SurfaceTension: And since when does a 16 year old vote for President, anyway?

And considering the election was 4 years ago and they're looking at people ages 16-29? They would have been 12-25 then, so a bunch of them couldn't vote.

Additionally, plenty of kids don't have jobs until they get out of college. I only worked in the summer between ages 16 and 22.

See. Evidence of Democrat voter fraud.

2012-01-05 12:25:17 PM
16 and 17 year olds voted for Obama--and they did it 4 years ago, when they were 12 or 13 years old? Wow, no wonder the Republicans are pressing so hard to have new voter "fraud" laws passed!

Also, perhaps Submittard should learn the difference between "not employed" and "unemployed." When I was between 16 and 29, for a significant portion of that time I was not employed. I was a full time student--first in high school, then in college, and then (after leaving college and working for a few years) in graduate school. During much of that time, I did not have a job, and was not seeking one. I was not, however, "unemployed," nor have I ever been. "Unemployed," to most people, means not having a job but seeking employment and hoping to have a job. A guy who gets laid off from a factory that oursourced its production to China is both "not employed" and "unemployed." A high school junior who doesn't have a job and is not seeking one, or a stay-at-home mom, is not employed, but is not "unemployed."

You joke, but I just heard Limbaugh make the claim that this is a result of the Bush tax cuts and had nothing to do with Obama.

Subby: 45% of the people that voted for the really cool awesome dude are unemployed
Article: Only 55% of Americans Between Ages of 16 And 29 Have Jobs

Obama got 100% of the 18-25 vote 4 years ago? I find that a wee bit unlikely.

2012-01-05 01:29:54 PM
Submittard: 45% of the people that voted for the really cool awesome dude are unemployed.

Or, even worse, are gettin' all edumacated and stuff. If we just listened to Gingrich, they'd all be working in coal mines. Or leaving their cancer-stricken wives to marry new, better, younger wives and stuff. Shee-it.

2012-01-05 01:31:54 PM
Why would this be a surprise? People vote their interests, and the Democrats have historically had more interest in helping impoverished people. It's pretty much a no-brainer.

Now, if you're commenting on the large number of unemployed people rather than the fact that they voted for Obama, that's largely due to the economic failure of the Republican party during President Bush's term in office. Much as I would have liked to have seen his policies work, they simply haven't worked and won't no matter how much we wish they would. What's good in theory is often not good when applied, and that is absolutely the case here.

Rather than provide a bailout to those crushed by the burden of educational loans, his student debt relief program was pathetic - only reducing interest rates by a measly 0.5 percent.

Aren't we kind of broke right now? I mean we had all this bailout money, but we had to give it to those poor, poor corporations that got us in this mess to begin with.

Besides, can you imagine the right-wing outcry if Obummer had given students a bailout?

I wasn't aware that 16 and 17 year olds can vote.

I bet if you added the rest of high school into the mix, the number would be REALLY shocking.

2012-01-05 01:39:26 PM
You think they're mad now, just wait until Obama bails out the banks after all the unemployed kids default on their student loans.

Adolf Oliver Nipples: Now, if you're commenting on the large number of unemployed people rather than the fact that they voted for Obama, that's largely due to the economic failure of the Republican party during President Bush's term in office minimum wage laws.

FTFY. The increasing difficulty for young people to get jobs is a long-term trend. The days of having a paper route as an adolescent, then working at the corner store as a teenager, then moving up as you get older are way, way over. Now we have a gazillion 18-24 year olds with no work experience and nondescript resumes, and we wonder why no one is giving them a job? Because it would be just that: "giving."

I sure know my time as a paper boy and candy store clerk pushed me over the edge when I applied for my healthcare analyst position. They really liked how I worked my way up to gain related skills.

Those sound like some rectally-extracted stats. I'm 23 and I have a job, as well as the majority of my friends who are around my age. As a group we're not as well off as we could be with the economy/job market and all that, but things could be MUCH worse as well.

Just another effort by the GOP loons to try and turn this bad economy into Obama's fault.

Guys, seriously, you can't rewrite history this soon. Not after the nightmare that was the GWB years. We're still having nightmares about that ass.

Does anyone really believe that McCain and Palin would have done a better job? I mean, we'd still have the same Senate, House and Judiciary, so would those two people and their selections for a cabinet really have made any difference to the positive?
