It just never occurs to these ignorant bigots that more white folks collect welfare in this country, does it?

I heard his retarded "explanation" last night on John King. And this morning, CNN replayed the clip. Okay, it sounds like he started to say "black", thought better of it...and continued saying it, anyway. He probably meant to stop himself but figured nobody would catch it.

I'd call Santorum "retarded," but that'd be an insult to some mentally-challenged folks I know, all of whom are FAR more able to function in society than he is.

There is not a joke in there anywhere. I am actually being completely serious.

When you go back and watch the clip of him actually saying the line, there's not a moment hesitation or thought. He delivers it without pause.

So unless he somehow managed a stutter below the frequency that humans can hear, I'm not buying what he's selling on this excuse.

He said it in Iowa. They like Mexicans there so they don't have to do the farmwork.

Oh yeah, and his little 'stutter' line comes up clearly as BS because there is no pause.

He could have said "n**gers" and it would still play well to his base. They love this kind of shiat. The "if it ain't white, it ain't right" Republicans are the majority of the party now. Next will be mexicans, then gay, then all things muslim, then the poor, and they will cheer from their towers for someone finally taking up for the straight rich white man.

Exactly--he's completely lying about it being "a mumble" or "blaaaah". The first time I heard the video a few days ago, I didn't notice the pause, either. Then when I heard it again this morning, you can tell he paused for a split-second & then kept right on going. Then tried to justify his stance by saying we could help them by revving up manufacturing jobs. Just one more example of how much of an ass this guy is.

What REALLY killed me was the bimbo on CNN this morning saying, "Yeah, you can hear him pause" instead of calling him out on his racist bullshiat.

Dear f*cking motherhumping CHRIST! he actually said that. it's not a misquote or distortion, he actually said that. which makes this:

Iowa runner-up Rick Santorum said Thursday that he would be "a much bigger player" than expected in the New Hampshire primary and denied saying that he didn't want "to make black people's lives better by giving them somebody else's money."

...rather interesting. Because it's right there in that video. Santorum doubled down on his lies.

2012-01-05 11:21:55 AM
I'm pretty sure, when Rick Santorum was a child, someone dropped a farking anvil on his head. No one can be that willingly stupid and live as long as he has. It's just not possible.

near as I can tell, the GOP seems to believe that if you're poor and white then it's your fault for being poor. either you're stupid or God wanted you poor for some reason...but white people (in the GOP view) are only poor because they deserve it. if they just got right with Jesus then they'd be rich.

Well, perhaps what they meant was he denied saying he didn't want to make black people's lives better, which is the more well-known part of the quote per this and most of the other headlines. And he does say the way he wants to make their lives better is by giving them opportunities and jobs. I'm not saying it was a really stupid way of phrasing it and implies, at least, that white people aren't on welfare, but it's not the epic "I can't believe he said that" that everyone seems to make it out to be.

Yeah, it kind of is. He says we can help black people by giving them manufacturing jobs, which implies that all they can do is manual labor.

The thing I personally have a problem with is that he made color part of the equation at all. Why not say he wants to help all of the less fortunate? Help the poor? Instead he threw in black. I think that says a lot about his mindset.

Who in the last 5 years hasn't said we need to get the manufacturing sector of the US back in form to provide jobs and improve our economy?

What was the question before he answered with that? I mean, if it was specifically about black people, then it stands to reason he'd continue that train of thought. If he just randomly brought it up out of the blue as a policy position, then yeah.

I really hate that I'm defending, in any capacity, that douchebag but I'm trying to apply the same level of fairness if I'd heard a liberal say that.

He was speaking to a crowd in Iowa when he said that, which would likely have enough black people in the whole state that can be counted on one hand.

It's HIGHLY unlikely that black people would have come up at all before he said that.

Gingrich is blowing the dog whistle as well.

Gingrich spent the rest of his opening, pre-Q&A remarks, associating various ideas he had with various attacks on Romney. "I will go to the NAACP convention," he said, if they would invite him, "and tell the African-American community why they should demand paychecks instead of food stamps."

I'm telling you it plays well with the base. That is their perception of Welfare. They think it is all black people with big screen tvs, new rims, and smoking crack. Ths is the image they have built up in their heads for many years now. It used to be the far right that thought like this now it has become the majority of Republicans.

The problem is that this shouldn't be at all acceptable discourse and the media does something between jack and shiat to take them to task for it.

Yup, he's crazy alright. Why pointing out that African Americans have suffered more than almost any other demographic under Obama's economy through lost jobs, and speaking directly to those who the NAACP supposedly represents, is just nuts I tell you. INSANE.
