(Toronto Star) Dumbass Canada's answer to Glenn Beck gives a reasoned, articulate response to a company's boycott of tarsands oil. Just kidding, he tells the senior VP to go f*ck his mother   (thestar.com) divider line 64

I've known Ezra since college. If there is a higher-order douchebag, I've not met him.

2012-01-05 12:19:06 PM
Ezra Levant is a conservative whore of the highest order who will shill any idea for the PCs.

He's a miserable failure of a human being.

I dream of him and Rob Anders being loaded into a rocket and shot into the Sun.

2012-01-05 12:23:21 PM
So, did he say "Go fark your mother", or "Go fark my mother"?

Maybe I should RTA for clarification, or something.

Ezra Levant is a horrible person.

Dear lord...he's on to us.

I don't think anyone would ever accuse Ezra Levant of being reasonable or articulate.

I'm with the Canadian on this. What kind of idiot-run American company bans oil from relatively safe and local Canadian shale but not from the middle east or from ocean platforms? farking idiots. It's so stupid it has to be politically motivated.

I love how unabashedly overjoyed he is at the possibility of someone even hearing about his show, let alone actually watching it. Poor guy.

Levant has a history of outspoken conservatism. The Occupy Toronto movement was a "dirty, semen-stained, overflowing bathroom protest," for example

He may be a lunatic but he is wonderfully insane!

How exactly would a company boycott tar-sands oil? Its not like the fuel you use identifies who provided it.

Actually the guy who said this sounds kind of funny:

"I only regret that it did not get more coverage, which is why I am excited about your inquiry. I just hope Chiquita doesn't send some FARC terrorists after me in return, or try some banana republic-style coup to take over my TV show."

Basically, the boycott that never was.

I think we Canadians need to be less polite sometimes. We take enough abuse from third-world shiat-stains.

For a scary read on the tar sands and its environmental, sociological, and economic impact read:

Tar Sands: Dirty Oil and the Future of a Continent by Nikiforuk

paj3: Tar Sands: Dirty Oil and the Future of a Continent

I actually picked up that book and about 3 pages in I wanted to cockpunch the author. Having actually worked in various facets of the oilsands for the last 10 years I can assure you it is about the worst possible book on the subject.

Oh, Chiquita can tell...it doesn't have the same pizazz as other oil products when you are burning your workers and firebombing their homes.

Just like when you have a high performance engine...you know which gas stations sell the funny stuff.

I agree that he writes from too strong a political point of view. But the facts he cites are amazing. I'm a chemical engineer and no longer work in that industry (by choice). Last month I had dinner with the CEO of a major company that has large operations up there and he thought the current strip mining operations were unsustainable and a huge risk (and he stands to make 100's of millions on the tar sands). He thought the in situ processes were the way of the future - still at a huge cost compared to conventional oil.

Mining is getting better, Suncor uses technology now that eliminates tailings ponds entirely which speeds up the reclamation process quite a bit. The challenge for both mining and SAGD is the availability of water for the processes. Thankfully the government is pretty strict on water licences so projects tend to get shelved or delayed instead of wrecking the watershed.

The new kid in the block is TAGD. No water for steam, instead it's like a really big stove burner that heats up the bitumen until its viscosity is low enough to be pumped out.

/Most of the mineable land is spoken for, new production from now on is mostly going to be from in-situ projects.

Stopped reading at : Chiquita doesn't send some FARC terrorists after me in return, or try some banana republic-style coup to take over my TV show.

Ermm... sorry to break the news to you Erza, but the term "banana republic" comes from a time when northern powers, mainly the US, used direct and covert operations to usurp democratically elected governments down south and replace them with dictators so that we could have cheap bananas and the fruit companies of the day could make lots of money and have access to quasi slave labor.
Its your team who does the coup-ing.

These guys are always writing books, but never seem to read any.

He also recently went on a rant about how our "Muslim Mayor" is a bigot for allowing the OWS protesters to use a public park, but when a Christian preacher setup shop IN city hall and started preaching the security guards kicked him and his followers out. I guess Levant thinks the Mayor isa responsible for everything that happens in city hall, and that he called security, rather than, oh security just doing their job.

Levant is an idiot, working for an idiotic "news" organization brainwashing idiots. Unfortunately the idiots all have the right to vote.

The_Fuzz: He also recently went on a rant about how our "Muslim Mayor" is a bigot for allowing the OWS protesters to use a public park,

Which is retarded, because Nenshi never allowed that to happen at all. In fact Nenshi said, directly to OWSers, that camping in a public park was illegal.

And I'm utterly shocked that Levant couldn't see that the reason The City didn't act instantly is because they needed to significant research into whether or not evicting the OWSers could result in a Charter case against their freedom of speech.

Shocked, I tells ya.

Ezra Levant gives our tolerant, economically strong, and multicultural country a bad name. He's a blemish on an otherwise excellent place that I wouldn't leave for all the bananas in wherever bananas come from.

I was actually surprised that this cockstain didn't somehow manage to work the CBC into his rant.

I believe Canada deals with this kind of nonsense more effectively than the Americans so I'd be very surprised if the broadcaster doesn't ultimately get in trouble over this.
