But who doesn't like generic clothes that fall apart in three months?

So long as there is a SALE AT PENNY'S, the Gap will never succeed.

I don't mind the generic clothes - but not at $50 a shirt (long sleeve, button down). Heck, $30 for one of their shirts still seems like a rip off. And no, I don't want to wear a western style plaid shirt in any color, thank you.

And that is why they are having trouble selling merchandise.

When I want generic clothes that fall apart after three months, I go to Old Navy cause they're cheaper. When I want stylish clothes that fall apart after three months, I go to Banana Republic. Gap is stuck in between its top and bottom brands.

I bet if I handed you some stock for the Gap, you could make a brooch, or a pterodactyl...

Maybe they just lost a large percentage of their consumers to the obesity epidemic and they can no longer fit into their clothes :P.

I went in to the local Mall and the Gap store there wanted over $60 for a pair of khakis. I thought it was a joke. So why am I buying these for $60 when the same khakis are $12 across the Mall at Old Navy, which is owned by the Gap?

DUH

At $50 a shirt, I will go across the way to Banana Republic and get one that's no iron.

Seriously, why doesn't ANYONE other than BR and Land's End make women's full sleeve (none of that 3/4 crap) no-iron button down shirts?

Wake up in a strange land
one of forty thieves.
And I see for the first time just what you believe.
I go down to the market where I can buy or sell
And I listen to the chanting and all the lies that wise ones tell.
They say: East is East - West is West
Two different colours on the map.
We say:Break the line
chew the fat
keep moving out into the gap.

// first thing the headline made me think of
// yeah, get off my lawn, etc.

This is what you get for your smarmy "young athletic people dancing in Gap clothing" commercial campaign that I kept seeing every damn ten minutes while I was watching TV in high school.
