If I remember my trivia right, without getting all Google-y, the US version has the Zoltar persona shared by a brother/sister team, as some sort of ploy to confuse G-Force. In Japan (where the hand can be used like a knife), Berg is a composite being, brother and sister fused into one, in an attempt to create a powerful, perfect being. Didn't work out too well, as Katse had a tendency to switch genders at the drop of a hat.

What the hell, I'll take a stab at answering:
The Flash needs a car to pick up chicks.
The pollution from surface-dwellers has mutated Aquaman into a living magic capsule sponge toy.
Superman developed a kryptonite phobia, and he must use a giant mecha for even the simplest rescues.
The Joker is female so there can be Joker/Harley lesbian fanfic.
