I avoided the royal wedding coverage like the plague until I heard about the toilet seat hat. My wife knows me too well.

You can't include Minaj, Gaga, or Perry in a list like that. Their entire career depends on them trying to out-stupid each other's look.

I liked the Lady Gaga merkin... but that's about what I expect from her.

I could only wish that a follow-up article to this would be "greatest web design risk takers of 2012" where sites 'boldly' remove the slideshow paradigm.

Honestly. How the frak did that thing happen? Did NOBODY in the English royal family mention that it looked like a toilet seat?

While it is true that someone designed the "toilet seat" hat, keep in mind that someone had to decide to wear it out in public, that person was past the age of consent and once she put the hat on she had to continue to wear it until the occasion was over and done.

/couldn't have been easy to continue to wear the thing after she saw the first few horrified looks/smirks/outright laughter.

//show some pity for the girl, she is rich and white and if anyone needs pity it is rich white people who are wearing the Emperor's New Clothes

///if by "pity" you mean tar and feathering

////which would have improved that hat, BTW

Yes, but as Paul Merton commented, who does she know that she can ask for advice that's sane?

Fashion risk taker? Sophia Vergara in any low cut shirt or loose top. Now that is risky.
