What the world really needs is a self cleaning keyboard, one that removes the cheetos dust, spiled soda crud, and whatever gunk you spill into it. Not one that self sterilizes.

After washing my keyboard recently, I found it was actually a black keyboard, not grey and furry. Took me an hour to remove and scrub every key and then scrub the board itself. Must have been half a cat in there too.

thats when you get a new keyboard. funfact laptop keyboards are really dinky and will probably have to be replaced before they need to be cleaned.

I would not be surprised to find that my old Alienware laptop is now two pounds heavier than when I bought it however many years ago.

Now we can finally ship those useless keyboard sanitizers off on the B Ark.

I've never cleaned a keyboard before. I just buy new ones.

Keyboards are probably the only thing left that are keeping our immune systems alert and healthy, and keeping the zombie apocalypse at bay.

"With the introduction of self-cleaning keyboards came the development of incredibly resistant strains of bacteria. This in turn led to MRSA5T, a powerful strain of bacteria that infected nearly 95% of the population and caused its human host to exhibiatcharacteristics of aggresiveness and a craving for brains."

At least the Dell keyboards at work (and the same one I use at home) are easily washed under the tap.

I would have washed mine under the tap, but I didn't have a week to let it dry.

Soooo what are we supposed to use as penalty for a funny headline now?

Sanitized doesn't imply "not sticky"

But will they figure out some way to keep the windows and walls clean too?

Some older keyboards were washable in dishwashers.

Those with lights on them have circuits which can be destroyed by high temperature washing, but there's no reason that keyboards couldn't be made easier to clean. You could, of course, get one of those flexible soft keyboards without cracks for stuff to fall into and clean it with a spray or a damp cloth but they aren't as comfortable and easy to use and probably don't last as long.

I hope self-sterilizing keyboards don't take your fingerprints off. Mind you, my fingerprints seem to take the decals off of ordinary keyboards, so turn about would be fair play. The whole middle part of my keyboard at work is almost totally graphic-free.

I use paint brushes (small, fine-hair paintbrushes, that you can buy for $1 or $2 in a dollar store) to clean my keyboards. You could also use a clean make-up brush--that's what gave me the idea for the brushes--I found a make-up brush and wondered what it could be used to do besides make-up.

$900 FOR A KEYBOARD? no I'll just keep replacing them when they get really nasty, thanks

Dirty keyboards are important for development of germ immunity for kids who don't go outside much. That and ass pennies.

Now I know which to buy to replace the one you just ruined, SUBBY.

I have the second, older one. It's currently as nasty as hell, but at least the keys are easy to remove for cleaning. On the newer one, is that even possible?
