Something tells me that the damage is not going to be obvious to the casual observer.

/That's worth $30 million?

I hate to be prejudicial, but you look at that mug shot, and she just seems like the kind of person who would do something like that.

FTFA: the suspect was apparently drunk at the time.

Really? Who'd a thunk it.

Also: "You have to wonder where her friends were"

Hiding? Would you admit this woman, who just did this to a painting, was someone YOU knew?

Oh, I could wax eloquent about the dynamic movement and the way the eye is drawn across the canvas and other arty bullshiat, but this fellow seems too have made a career out of that kind of BS.

It's not $30 million worth of farking dynamic movement.

After seeing the painting I have to agree with her tastes.

2012-01-05 09:16:21 AM
I'd like to see the rest of her. She looks like the kind of gal that would have a nice body attached to a face that obviously looks like a train wreck.

2012-01-05 09:19:37 AM
Also, the alleged "attacker's" performance art in this episode is worth millions as well, and should probably receive a major award, as well as a prison term.

/betting she is also an artist.

As for the piece, I love the cheeky little yellow splash on the right and the sad grey blotch on the left.

That, kids, is genius.

I don't care what art aficionados say, you can't logically justify a work of art being more desirable simply because of who did it

The really sad part is, she was a really really good tattoo artist. She did the dragon on my leg and the most incredible (cover up) art of frogs on my wife's foot only a few years ago. And now, she looks bad (okay, she was drunk in the mugshot) and has had some rough years apparently. I truly feel awful that I know this person, really liked her and her work, and now ... she's "Fark Famous" for what she did.

What's funny about your comment? Clyfford Still is you! He got fed up with the art scene and stopped selling paintings. Kept making them, but wasn't making a "career" out of it.

And by the same logic, my autograph should be just as valuable as Babe Ruth's.

I think she actually increased the value of the painting.
Before it just looked like used toilet paper...

that explains why so much. most tat artists are usually covered.

Or you could, you know, simply enjoy the things you like and not worry about the rest or other people's opinions. I happen to like the piece. You don't have to.

That being said I will admit that those who take a sort of reverse snobbery about art do get on my tits. If you don't know anything about it and can't be bothered to learn then kindly take your comments about what is and is not art or is and is not worthy and stick them up your pig-ignorant arse.

Quite a lot of that in every Fark thread on the subject.

I'd pay more to see her performance than I would for that painting. Besides if running someone down with a shopping cart is free speech so should be rubbing your @ss on an expensive piece of crap painting.

Like the sun coming up in the east. All you can hope for is some sort of (usually unintended) comedy gold from comments that start off with "I don't care what art aficionados say..." or some such.
