I stayed there last year.
It was clean, inexpensive, and had it's own monorail station.

The same cannot be said of the Paris Hilton.

As long as they still honor my sports book cashes, we're good.

What about the Tokyo Hilton?

Will the Flamingo Hilton be renamed the Flamingo?

Also:

What about the Hooters Hotel & Casino?

Someone needs to wrap Zombie Conrad Hilton in copper wire and surround him with magnets. We'd be off coal power in an instant!

Why bother with them now that there is no longer a Star Trek Experience? It's a block off the strip on the north end of everything. Aside from the convention center, there are probably better choices to stay and gamble (though the monorail reaches there now, right?)

Agreed. I stayed there with the wife for four nights for free in October. They sent me a postcard offering four nights, three free buffets, a bunch of 50% off coupons for hotel restaurants, free drink coupons, etc.

We also got $50 in free slot play and turned it into $200. So there's that.

The fact that the STE is gone is a big, sad panda moment for me. I got to go before they closed, and I really enjoyed drinking the Warp Core Breach while downing some Holy Rings of Betazed and being questioned by a Ferengi.

Getting on/off the monorail there always makes you walk past the spot where it used to stand. The Star Trek insignia is still visible on the side of the building's exterior.

Feels bad, man.

I've stayed there many times... always fun. Played blackjack at the same table with Barry Switzer for a couple of hours one evening... Coach was winning every hand in sight, even making stupid bets... hmmmm... Anyway, good times.

The_Sponge: Will the Flamingo Hilton be renamed the Flamingo?

In 1998, Hilton's gaming properties, including the Flamingo, were spun off as Park Place Entertainment (later renamed to Caesars Entertainment). The deal included a two-year license to use the Hilton name. Park Place opted not to renew that agreement when it expired in late 2000, and the property was renamed Flamingo Las Vegas.

That end of the strip is by far the skeeviest part of Vegas. People joke that the reason why the Stratosphere was built there was so that tourists would be elevated too high up in the air to see all the crack vials and discarded condoms littering all over the place.

And I thought the Hard Rock looked much worse on approach, of course we drove up the back way (Brown St. or something like that) past the convention center to get to the Hilton. I can see why the Stratosphere has to work as hard as they do to get LA trust fund babies.

Was working there at the time it changed names, still call it the Flamingo Hilton on my resume.

/far too lazy to change it, that would take like 3 or 4 seconds.
