Mauna Kea Sunrise
The summit of Mauna Kea always reminds me of Mars-the red landscape, littered with rocks and not a sign of life anywhere. The blue skies throw off the impression a little, though. 3/3, Pops.

Walking on the "pointless path." My parents have a bit too much yard to landscape.

The Road to Eggnog

Driving through the boondocks of central Utah, on a dirt road that lead us towards the Henry Mountains, the last mountain range in the Lower 48 to be mapped. Eggnog was a settlement along this road at Bullfrog Creek...we saw no evidence of any sort of town there.

Sunset Rainbow

This was the view from our campsite in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park
(Not really desolate, but it sure was remote.)

I'm not really a photographer, so it's nowhere near as artistic, but I took this at the top of a guard tower at the Great Wall of China in the dead of winter. That's pretty desolate.
