I knew I would regret that. Oh how it pained me.

And thus begins the Newt on Mitt action. Though Santorum won't be complaining about this one.

There's a certain irony in having been wrong because of RTFA. I feel like I fell for a trap. Yes, I was trapped by time-travelling, universe-exploring government agents, that's the ticket.

My best friend is a bisexual Wiccan Republican who is right of GWB on most charts and is Scots/Irish/German on top of that. But she doesn't turn 35 until April, so we'll have to wait and see if she'll run or not.

If Newt is successful in doing any real damage to Romney, there are only 2 people right now who could really profit from it: Santorum and maybe Paul.

I don't like this feeling I now have inside me. It's like snakes trying to wriggle out of my gut.

:-(

When you ask yourself why Newt is going on the attack, it's really just a matter of the scorpion and the frog- that is who Newt is. His modus operandi is to just attack, attack, attack, wreak as much destruction as possible, and hope he comes out on top. Just ask Bob Michel. And as you saw when a lot of former House members came forward and cautioned about Gingrich, this is not unknown. He thrives in chaos, in large part because he lives for it, but also because his stream of unmitigated bullshiat is held to less scrutiny while everyone is diverted by the blood and guts.

That does remind me of a little ponderer I thought about after Barack Obama became the first Non-"White Christian male" to be elected president..... rank the order you think other minority groups will first get someone elected president (I've ordered it in the order I believe), the religious beliefs/sexual preference is based on being "openly" about it, you can debate on a few if we've already secretly had some obviously....

Education and intelligence seems to work against faith, and money sure as hell works against morality.

Tough one, but that's the order I'd go with. Many groups in this country can find common ground in their mutual hatred of women or those deemed un-masculine.

Man, Newt sure does freak the hell out when he doesn't get what he wants.

No wonder his stated plan is to remove any impediment to his power should he be elected.

plus obama is running for re-election
he is educated, intelligent, and has a a reasonable amount of faith, morality, and money

so what is netizencain's problem with obama? he is black?
too intelligent?
not enough faith?

plus, all the SMART republicans are waiting until 2016 and assuming that the DEMs will have fixed the economy by then so they can step in and fark it up, yet again.

dahmers love zombie: CanisNoir: Umm, he's not dropping out of the race.

I believe subby's meaning was that, as the article indicates, Gingrich knows he can't win, so at this point he's not running for president, he's running to destroy Mitt Romney.

If this were anybody but Newt Gingrich, I just might send him some dollars to help him on his quest. But it's Newt, so he is probably hoping I will do just that, so fark him.

Newt's a self-obsessed prick who doesn't belong anywhere near the White House. He showed his stripes as Speaker of the House.

Leading a charge against Clinton while having an affair himself.

F*ck him. He doesn't deserve to still have a career in politics.

2012-01-04 05:34:56 PM
Newt's gone as soon as his new book comes out. It's shaped like a penis and vibrates. Sure to be a hit with the ladies and Republicans. Bonus -- you don't have to bother reading it, but all the pundits will refer back to it daily.

Resonates. That is the word for the day. Newt was demolished in Iowa not because Romney ran negative ads against him, but because those negative ads resonate with the viewers. Even hard-core Republicans recoiled in horror from Newt after the ads reminded the viewers just what Newt is. Now, imagine what happens if those same ads were run by Obama in the general? Romney is doing the Republicans a favor by taking Newt out before Obama unleashed the hurricane. Newt is a fool for failing to see the obvious: no one likes him, he is unelectable, get out now.

I can't imagine any scenario at this point where Mitt Romney doesn't win the nomination. He's pretty much destroyed any viable competition he has. Gingrich and Perry were the only two competitors with the ability to raise money, and they're basically destroyed. Santorum and Paul are both broke, and they're both something worse than a joke among independents.

And to be honest, I think that anything Newt does to Romney at this point is just going to toughen Romney up for the real campaign. With the economy as bad as it is, I don't think Obama would have an easy time even against a soft and flabby Romney. If Romney goes through the wringer a couple of times in March, he's going to a lot tougher to beat in November.

2012-01-04 05:44:27 PM
does it really count as negative campaigning if you just repeat things newt has said and done to remind people who he is?

You'd think the national party reps would smack him down for saying things like that.

2012-01-04 05:51:59 PM
Haven't you idiots ever heard of poetic license? The author of TFA wasn't saying that Newt dropped out; they were saying that he's dropped all pretense of running to win and is now running to tear it all down.
