She looks like she could own the mall, though.

I liked Rudy, but when she got older, they brought in another little girl who was really annoying. By that time though, the show had jumped the shark and was on its last leg. Why is it that TV execs always have to bring in an annoying new little kid just because the other kids have gotten older?

Note to former celebrities, when arrested don't attempt to get out of it by mentioning your former celebrity status. the end result of this attempt results in turning what would have been an ignored by the public incident into a news worthy story being bought to the public's attention.

FTFA - Authorities say she told officers she played the role of Rudy Huxtable, but actress Keisha Knight Pulliam actually played Rudy, the youngest daughter on the 1980s sit-com.

Court records say Davis also claimed she owned the mall in which she was arrested.

Can you say, "psych hold?"

/Well, she might not be dangerous.
//But she IS nuts.

Slavish devotion to formula. Like an athelete who won't wash a certain item of clothing, the suits will try to keep everything the same, despite entropy, puberty, or just plain common sense. If a show is successful, and started with cute little kids, then it must have been the kids being cute that was a big part of it! If the kids dare to grow up, let's just add more little kids, their acting skills be damned.

Of course, TV Tropes (new window) has an entry about such things.

Doh! Well, when you haven't watched a TV show for 30+ years, off the cuff attempts at Internet humour are bound to fall short.

The worst part ffish? I was picturing the character with the toque over his face with eye holes.

That was Dumb Donald. I heard when he got older he knocked off the corner store and was arrested shortly thereafter, since everyone in the hood recognized his ski mask.

I think cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch went on to be the voice of Michelangelo on the first TMNT cartoon. Could be wrong though...

The first few seasons of the Cosby show were really good and socially important. The last few seasons were horrible.

Theo was the best.

Interesting thought: could a writer in today's "Occupy Wall Street" media climate get away with the great Bill / Theo 'Regular people' conversation about money and achievement? Especially the little bit at the end where Bill is pointing to the empty space in Theo's fingers and saying "regular people".

Really good question. Do you think it reflected the conservative/money worshipping culture of the 80's or something more universal?

Another example: The Michael J Fox vehicle "Secret of My Success." Fox is only the good guy because the movie says so, not because he's more moral than the "bad guy." He only wins because he's better at business than the other guy.

On the Cosby part:

I think it was born out of Bill's (and many others) struggle for civil rights, and making sure that blacks in America capitalized on those achievements. I think -- no, actually KNOW from his speeches later in life-- that Bill was/is INCENSED at a culture of 'lazy' and not 'making something' of yourself. I am not even remotely a '1%'er' but I basically agree with the sentiment of that scene. You are also correct that my attitude could be from coming of age in the 1980's where being 'elite' was something to aspire to, and not something demonized as criminals of free society.

Cliff Huxtable was an obstetrician. While his salary today might approach the "1%" entry point ($250,000-329,000 is the average), he's not exactly part of the multimillion-dollar-earning less-tax-paying "elite" class that's being demonized today. Cosby himself was the son of a maid and a sailor--not one the trust fund types being rallied against today.

Bruce Wayne also hated being arrested for stealing his own stuff. Now I am going to see if the married woman in my house is up for an affair.
