I guess this means that after a huge thrust and a late surge, Santorum comes in behind.

Subby, I think your Freudian slip is showing.

"Romney comes in first, followed by Santorum" is what you meant, I think. ;)

I just want to mention that the guys from RedState.com were on CNN, and they said something along the lines of "If you take away the Ron Paul votes, it's not a high turnout."

Now, I dislike Ron Paul as much as the next sane person, but completely disregarding almost a quarter of the votes for no good reason? What the hell is up with that?

Also, to the GOP:

It's funny because all republicans are homosexuals.

Poor guy. After plugging his stuff for months, santorum is just number two.

I saw (with 27% percent reporting at the time) that ole frothboy was polling upwards of 68% with White Evangelicals. No surprise there. No bigger group of racist dumbfarks that I can think of.

Iowa Republicans sure do love the Cauc.

"We don't like him, but we'll take what we can get if it means we don't have to support that freak from Utah."
(You know he's really from Massachussetts, right?)

Santorum must be downright bubbly after seeing these results, Romney will push hard in New Hampshire but I believe Santorum will give him a run for his money.

Romney: for people who think graham crackers are far too spicy.

Lame. Wanted that disgusting motherfarker to win. Ah well, Romney is going to win regardless, but it would have been slightly lulzier if he had to work for it more.

I got in with the "comes in behind" headline literally at the same time you got greened.

So, I just recycled it for the thread.

/FARK recycling... because headlines shouldn't be the only thing that are green.

Sounds like they're just pointing out that GOP voter enthusiasm is generally low. The only person who is generating any excitement is a guy who is not going to win the nomination. And a lot of that guy's support is now coming from independents and even Democrats. Once he's out of the race, his voters will leave with him. They'll vote for him if he runs third party, and if he doesn't, they won't show up on election night to vote for the Rom-bot.

Santorum was this week's "anybody but Mitt" flavor of the week. He just lucked out that it happened during an important week.

FTA:
In the end, Romney essentially matched his vote total from 2008, though he invested much less time and money in Iowa this cycle. But he failed to deliver the knock-out blow that his campaign had hoped for by playing in Iowa, and the results underscore the existing narrative in the campaign, that Romney is struggling to win over skeptical conservatives.

Sensing that Romney is vulnerable, the campaign now seems poised to move into a new phase in which the former Massachusetts governor will suffer more scrutiny.

What the fark? He won the primary in a state he barely campaigned in; he's in an enormously strong position. I realize the media desperately wants a close race, but you have to work pretty damn hard to spin this as "Romney is now vulnerable".

Christ, we have a year of this shiat to look forward to.

My FB feed is filled with sympathy for RON PAUL... from people who I've never known to be political in nature. You have to hand it to him, for a guy with extremely regressive views on the constitution and the role of government, he really knows how to inspire people. Since they are my peers, I assume they like him on the anti-war, pro-marijuana stance and haven't really looked into anything else he wants to do or the repercussions of them.

I don't know... do you really think Santorum can keep plugging away in the #2 spot long enough to build things to a frothy head?

I'd make more of an issue of Santorum's actual stances on the issues.
There's a reason WHY the gay rights activists decided to turn his name into a profanity, and a reason WHY that meme spread faster than santorum over white silk sheets.

AmorousRedDragon: My FB feed is filled with sympathy for RON PAUL... from people who I've never known to be political in nature.

I had to check mine after reading this and came away with this gem:

I try not to talk politics on here anymore, but I saw that Rick Santorum took Iowa so I need to comment. If anyone reading this... anyone... best friends, family, I don't care... if anyone reading this thinks this country needs Rick Santorum as president, please... please... unfriend me. Not just on Facebook. In real life, too. I am absolutely serious. If you think Rick Santorum should be president, I have no common ground with you at all and really really do not need you in my life or ever want to speak to you again. Seriously. fark. That. Guy.
