The WindowLicker: Politics and the Real World are ugly, messy places. I do not agree with a lot of things President Obama has done. I agree that the recent bill signing was a mistake. I even think his focus on Obamacare was a huge political mistake. As one of his supporters I am downright dissapointed by many, many aspects of his presidency.

One thing I can give him is that despite misgivings that he was going to turn out to be another Schwarzenegger (whom I also voted for), he turned out to actually be able to get things done against MUCH more intractable opposition and institutional hate from many corners. The Guvernator didn't have nearly as much opposition and he completely folded after one big loss, leading to five more years of do-nothing.

Bill Frist: 2) The gerrymandering of our districts has led to a situation where huge swaths of politicians run unopposed either literally or for all intents and purposes. As such, in a gerrymandered district the politician only has to worry about challenges to the right, if they are Republican, or left, if they are democratic. So they run on positions far more extreme than their state or country as a whole believes in.

This year, we shall see if California's great experiment succeeds or fails.

Funny farking thread (must be getting tired). Good to see H.L. Menken's Carnival of Buncombe being channeled into the 21st.

The guy who was so homophobic that gay-activists decided to coin a neologism to link his name to a sexual byproduct. He's also against contraceptive use in straight couples, and claims that Boston is so libtarded that that's the reason why Catholic priests molested little boys there.

The guy who wanted to privatize access to weather data by saying that the NWS could not give away for free something that Accuweather could be selling for profit.

The guy who wanted intelligent design taught in science class.

The guy who believes there is no right to privacy (but his target was not about fighting the war on terror, it was about fighting contraceptives)

The guy who throws around "Islamic Fascism."

Holy ballshiat.

Political battles and funding snafus come and go. Quiet abrogations of basic rights tend to stick around awhile. Some sort of push for rights protection would have been nice, and frankly the signing statement doesn't cut it.

NDAA has pretty much cost Obama my vote as well- though to be fair, I'm down here in Kentucky and have the luxury of a relatively meaningless top-ticket vote to protest with. (It'll probably end up with Gary Johnson, as a vote for "Can we get more of this guy in our opposition party, please?")

OWS should have focused on this or a criminal investigation into the bailout. While I'm Canadian so my opinion is moot, I think all you guys need is campaign fiance reforms and a multi-party system to get your political house in order. It is crazy to the rest of the world how the repubs have forced your entire political spectrum so far to the right that you no longer have a real liberal party. That said, many of my favorite lib-tard politicians are in your democratic party. They just don't have much sway anymore, it seems. Well done on healthcare though, I can't believe how some folks freaked the fark out over it.

I read, "Wahhh my marijuana!" and Omfg latest controversial talking point!" in your reasoning.

No, it's not "waaah my marijuana", it's "Obama lied to everyone about raiding cannabis clubs and laughs when people bring up legalization". As I said it was the first straw. I made my decision to not vote for him based on this so called "talking point" which is a law that strips away basic constitutional rights. I guess basic freedom doesn't mean a thing to you as long as a Democrat is the one taking it away. Go ahead, be a slave to the two-party system, but I'm sick of it. I'll either vote for someone I support and agree with or I wont vote at all. The Democrats will keep pulling this bullshiat if their voters are as complacent as you for their mediocrity, false promises, and weakness. I'm not whining, I'm putting my foot down. I am sick of Democrats acting like less extreme Republicans. What's the point?

True statement. We cannot be a warmongering welfare state without a central bank to borrow and inflate our way through our expenses. Paul knows this.

Our monetary policy concerns me quite a bit. It should concern everyone. Most people that I know that really understand how the fed operates seem to think the same thing. One you start to see how fragile our currency is, you start noticing how reckless our government is with it and how much it looks like other cases in history.

While potentially true the rest of his monetary policies, for example returning us to the gold standard, demonstrate he doesn't understand how economies work.

It's a bit like hiring a guy to run a restaurant because he knows how the cash register works but doesn't understand that you can't take off all your clothes, shiat on the bar, rape the customers and then burn the place down.

It amazes me that people are still saying this shiat after Paul has demonstrated his understanding of the issues by accurately predicting a series of economic disasters that no one else saw coming, let alone some of our best economists. His interviews with the fed chairmen are like watching worms squirm under a magnifying glass... He knows his stuff.

Would it suck to go to a gold standard? Yeah, it would hurt. We could spend ourselves 3 generations ahead or wage war whenever we felt like it. We wouldn't have the open line of credit that would allow is to be the world police and start wars on a whim. We would have less credit to throw around.

It would hurt, make no mistake about it. But there would be good things come out of it too. Businesses would have to make reasonable investments rather than blow their wads on a good vibe since the fed wouldn't be there to bail them out. Interest rates would go up to market value, which would encourage savings and discourage frivolous use of credit. Inflation, which the fed intentionally encourages, would drop severely.

Most of all, our dollar would be stable and strong when we're not printing them up by the truckloads.

I would never say that I think the dollar might collapse, because I really have no idea. I havent been ale to find a good reason why it wouldn't. Are we smarter than the economic planners of Rome and the Wiermar Republic? I find that doubtful. Herman Cain was a fed president and had no idea that their was even a housing bubble. Someone did, though.

Say what you want about his crazy ideas. The man knows his shiat.

The problem is, the selection process basically guarantees that 'decent' people won't get through. Basically, you don't stand a chance of getting elected unless you're a skilled sociopath, or in the case of Obama, the celebrity cult phenomenon picks you as it's Susan Boyle and turns your 'I just ran on a lark' to a 'holy crap they elected me?!'

The only way we could ever get back to having proper leaders is to remove all extraneous media from the equation. No one knows what they look like, no one sees videoclips of them talking or debating, text and audio only, so that we actually vote on them based on their policies and experience, rather than their ability to sell you a flask of rejuvenating tonic.

What is sad is that you have become conditioned to think that a President SHOULDN'T know how an economy works. When in reality, a President SHOULD, and Paul does. The reason peopel think Pauls ideas are so crazy is because they have never known anything but bad ideas. Americans have been getting fist farked for the last 60 years by the Fed and have become comfortable with how that feels. Paul just wants to remove fist from ass but the anti-Paul crowd is just afraid of what it will feel like to have a fistless ass.
