I would guess that only one percent of all people would oppose the rest of people singing songs about belonging to the ninety-nine percent. Actually, there are probably more people in the 99% who have a problem with this sort of thing than there are in the 1%.

My own indoctrination began in first grade, when the teacher led us in a pledge of allegiance to a red, white and blue cloth hanging on the wall.

My niece is 3 years old and already knows how to run the I-pad better than my brother. But then she still thinks Bugs Bunny is real.

It is believable that the kids came up with this song themselves. How many of those kids have been directly affected by the housing crash? How many kids have parents that can't find jobs? Yeah, it'd be nice to think that kids are completely isolated from what is happening around them, but that's just stupid. I don't know the demographics of the school that this song was written at, but 21% of the children in the US live in poverty¹. 42% live in low-income families¹. 1 in 50 children are homeless².

So saying that children aren't aware of what's going on around them is ignorant. Yes, children are affected by the financial crisis and have to deal with it.

I know the first public school I went to we had to say it and then sing the star spangled banner every morning. Then at least once a week we'd have a bible lesson. No sir,no indoctrination there at all.
