muck4doo: HotWingConspiracy: muck4doo: HotWingConspiracy: muck4doo: HotWingConspiracy: They're not interested in economics. But that has nothing to do with anything.

Of course not. Nothing at all.

/Do you ever think about what you say, before you say it?

Oh I get it, all children are interested in the same things and the same things only. I recall in my youth, every kid at school having the same interests and doing the same activities. There was no deviation.

Again, you know some dumb kids.

And a bunch of dumb adults on fark who believe an 8 year old kid wrote this song, but still won't say who the kid is.

I don't teach at that school, this information is unavailable to me. Sounded like a group effort anyway.

You believe an adult wrote it but have nothing to back it up, outside of your experiences with stupid children.

I have plenty of experience with stupid adults like yourself who think they are fooling everyone with their stupidity by blaming it on the kids.

That's nice, honey. I don't really see what you get out of tearing down children, but you seem to enjoy it.

Thorndyke Barnhard: muck4doo: Keep the faith my son.

Do you remember when you were 8?. I do and I remember that I knew injustice and unfairness when I saw it and I also knew cultish right wing pricks when I saw them and I noticed that con jackassess and their causes and ideas made my unjust asshole bells go off way more than any non-con I heard talking.

Of course you did. I bet you wrote a song about it too. *cue the blues music*

Headso: muck4doo: Totally. Much easier to believe an 8 year old wrote that. Keep the faith my son.

an adult just wrote this:

ThrobblefootSpectre: Some people have it all
But they still don't think they have enough
They want more money
A faster ride
They're not content
Never satisfied
Yes - they're the 1 percent

Poop on a cop car
Vandalize and rape
Block traffic for those who work for a living
Cause were so effin great
And were so cool
The Nazi party supports us too
I'm so happy to be part of the 99

Out of the context of this thread what age would you put to the writer of those lyrics?

Obviously 8. That's where great lyrics arise. I'd like to hear the music to that too.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I remember that the Nixon hawks didn't like it very much at all when John and Yoko used a chorus of kids to promote ending the Vietnam War with "So this is Christmas". Well boo-frickin'-hoo; sometimes only the angelic voices of children can break through the cemented-in lobes of those who've forgotten how to think, care or feel.

(Jeebus I was pretty much a kid myself then)

BravadoGT: OBBN: BravadoGT: Who could possibly have a problem with public schools indoctrinating 8-year olds with anti-capitalist propaganda?

So, I am assuming that you would have no problem if a school were to indoctrinate it's students with Conservative propaganda? That wouldn't bother you at all? It works both way, right?

Conservative propaganda? No, I wouldn't support that at all. Teaching kids about the positive contribution of capitalism to our country's founding and development? Absolutely.

"I led the pigeons to the flag..."
Remember when the Knights of Columbus added "under God" to that? That pisses me off.
(Please find one mention of God in the Constitution. There are two on religion - both proscriptions.)

Our money? Give us E pluribus unum or DIAF.

Two small notes here:
1. Capitalism is dead in the United States. The modern Robber Barons drove a stake through it and collected a government-bailout funded bonus for doing it.
2. Socialism - the real deal "From each according to his ability; to each according to his CONTRIBUTION." - arguably made more contribution to the founding and development of this country. (Commonwealth colonies like the Massachusetts Bay Colony and Pennsylvania and Virginia, cooperatives like the Grange, and such-like, are what I have in mind here.)

Mr. Cat Poop: muck4doo: 2wolves: WhyteRaven74: Instead of being upset about the kids, how about dealing with the issues? Being upset at the kids is just trying to shoot the messenger.

There you go again, being all logical and reasonable and stuff.

Using children as your messengers is kind of the deal. Try acting like adults and deliver the message yourselves instead of using kids as your pawns to do it. That's the problem. Of course I can see why you two want to use anything at your "disposal" to get your message across.

I agree. So let's ban children from attending church until they turn 18. My wife became a fundy so I get a first hand look at how the church brainwashes kids and uses them to deliver the "good news". Luckily I'm there to tell my kids god is make believe like Santa.

The worst part is they are funded by taxes, and the kids are required to go there.

What if it's an issue affecting children? Do you feel it was wrong for a child recipient of health care via SCHIP to make a statement when the GOP was trying to kill it?

Is the child old enough to understand all the issues? If yes (for example, someone in their teens), then it's OK. If you are talking about grammar school age, then no. They may have a dog in the fight, but they don't have the mental capacity or information to understand the fight, and thus their opinion is actually less than worthless, and they are highly susceptible to simply spouting what has been spoon-fed to them. In other words, when it comes to public policy debates, they are essentially puppets being manipulated behind the scenes.

It's really not a hard concept to understand.

Bare assertion that I simply don't accept.

So why not let them vote?

I would post a video of how some 8 year olds dance at a birthday party supervised by adults but it borders on child pornography..

Children don't have much of a childhood anymore. Those lyrics could easily be written by 8 year olds especially with help from their siblings at home.

muck4doo: thamike: muck4doo: why is this indoctrination okay

It's just a song about how rich their parents aren't. The kids wrote it. There's no "indoctrination" going on here, and the OWS people are frustrated at the exact same things as the Teabaggers, so it's not as if this is some one-sided obscure "doctrine." Their parents are frustrated, their teachers are frustrated, so they wrote a song about it. Reacting to current events in creative ways was common when I was in elementary school.

Some people have it all
But they still don't think they have enough
They want more money
A faster ride
They're not content
Never satisfied
Yes - they're the 1 percent

I used to be one of the 1 percent
I worked all the time
Never saw my family
Couldn't make life rhyme
Then the bubble burst
It really, really hurt
I lost my money
Lost my pride
Lost my home
Now I'm part of the 99

Some people have it all
But they still don't think they have enough
They want more money
A faster ride
They're not content
Never satisfied
Yes - they're the 1 percent

I used to be sad, now I'm satisfied
'Cause I really have enough
Though I lost my yacht and plane
Didn't need that extra stuff
Could have been much worse
You don't need to be first
'Cause I've got my friends
Here by my side
Don't need it all
I'm so happy to be part of the 99

Yeah, I'm convinced an 8 year old came up with that.

Wow. They certainly are the 99%... they're all public employees. No wonder they hate capitalism.

Look, Muck - I don't think anybody is trying to say that you are an idiot, or even "wrong" per se - I certainly don't think that. I DO think that you are applying an overly broad generalization, and applying it with excessive certainty.
I'll be the first to concede that your suppositions about what happened here may be totally right. I wasn't there when this happened, and the only information I have on it comes from a rather brief article, and one from Fox News.

trappedspirit: You know who drags kids into politics as emotional pawns? I'll give you a hint, it's not the one percenters.

The one percenters have a staff to raise their kids. 3 shifts of nanny, boarding school, and summer camp, they have as little [emotionally] to do with their own kids as they can. That's pretty much the difference you highlight.

jso2897: muck4doo: HotWingConspiracy: muck4doo: That's nice, honey. I don't really see what you get out of tearing down children, but you seem to enjoy it.

I didn't say you were a child. I said you are a stupid adult.

Yes I'm aware. But you've spent the entire thread claiming children are idiots based on your experiences with stupid children.

I don't know what compels an adult to attack children in this way, but again, you're obviously in to it.

I don't know what compels a moronic adult to actually believe an 8 year old wrote a song about economics that even includes lyrics about how he worked day and night, but then the bubble burst and all was down hill for him from there. I know, you just want to believe because it makes you feel good inside, right? Of course it does. Believe what you want, babe.

The problem , as I see it ( and I apologzie if I have misperceived this), is that you don't acknowledge that there is any possibility that you might be wrong - and you might be.

That is a definite maybe.

/I don't know how I come across in words on the internet, but I am usually a mix of serious with mostly lulz just for the fun of debate.

muck4doo: sno man: muck4doo: 2wolves: WhyteRaven74: Instead of being upset about the kids, how about dealing with the issues? Being upset at the kids is just trying to shoot the messenger.

There you go again, being all logical and reasonable and stuff.

Using children as your messengers is kind of the deal. Try acting like adults and deliver the message yourselves instead of using kids as your pawns to do it. That's the problem. Of course I can see why you two want to use anything at your "disposal" to get your message across.

Or maybe your country is so systemically farked up even an eight year old can see it?
which then begs the question: Why can't you?

Maybe you should lay off the total fark for a month, and buy your kid a cheeseburger if you think he/she has it so horrible.

My kid is fine, thanks for asking. But there are a shiat-ton in your fine country that are not... way more than ever before, can you not see that?

Some people have it all
But they still don't think they have enough
They want more money
A faster ride
They're not content
Never satisfied

Compared to where I live and what I drive, a two-story house and a new BMW sounds like the lap of luxury to me. They don't need a house that big or a car that fast. fark 'em.

I work at an expensive private institution of higher learning. Most students who attend here have parents who would probably qualify as in the top 5%. Sure, we've got some kids on scholarships, and some are the kids of faculty/staff (they get free tuition), but the majority are solidly upper middle class, or above. They make every attempt to hide that, though, by 'dressing down', sometimes to the point of almost looking homeless. It's funny to watch someone who looks like a charity basket-case get out of a new Toyota Camry and head to class.

Quite posslbly true. But I, myself, wouldn't reach that conclusion merely on the basis of the information provided, as my own experience, both as a child, and with children, have taught me not to underestimate what they are capable of.
That's all. No big whoop, here. The people who are getting mad at you for posting that shouldn't be.

Ok. I'm not seeing the path linking these kids to that house.

DUCK SEASON

Local story. It was on the news here a couple of days ago.

There is no f*cking way that a bunch of third-graders wrote that song. Kids don't give a crap about 99%, 1%, 53%, paying taxes, banking ethics, whatever. They're not going to write a song that whines about all the crap that the OWS crowd is whining about.
