Yeah, but in the end they win. Even if the place is a smoldering ruin of destruction, they win!

And that's all they care about.

It's awesome that they lost (and still are losing) their collective sh*t over a black man beating them. This shows that they are indeed the party of old, white, wealthy men.

We need a Well, DUH tag

One of the reasons that I was so frustrated and decided not to get in the race was because it appears to me, and it still does to a large degree, that many of the Republicans are more interested in just defeating Barack Obama than they are in rebuilding America

not only that, but the Republicans are also willing to harm the US further (mostly through inaction) in order to damage Obama and give themselves a better shot in the elections later this year.

2012-01-03 05:47:54 PM
Does Mike Huckabee really believe in the sort of economically populist rhetoric that he espouses, or is it just a put-upon for the sake of the voters? I don't really know much about him. Is there anyone who lived in AR while he was the governor?

What does "rebuilding America" mean, exactly?

Githerax: What does "rebuilding America" mean, exactly?

It means getting the black guy out of the white house

The obvious tag can barely contain this article. SHES GONNA BLOW.

Githerax: What does "rebuilding America" mean, exactly?

it means more taxes on the middle class, GOP union busting, and no bid contracts going to key Republican supporters. after the project is 10 years behind schedule and $2 billion over budget, the Republicans will then blame the whole mess on Obama and start a series of closed door hearings on the budget problems.

A couple more victories like that and we will be undone.

/ So vote Republican.

Githerax: What does "rebuilding America" mean, exactly?

For Republicans, it means eliminating the minimum wage, all job safety laws, all environmental regulation, and restricting voting rights to wealthy landowners.

FTFA: "I don't intend to endorse anyone before the Florida primary and perhaps not even after, until we settle on a nominee because I want to maintain a level of objectivity. Quite frankly, Kay if I walked in the booth today I'm not sure who I'd pull the lever for. Nobody has so persuaded me that I'm ready to get a yard sign and put out in my yard, so I'm watching and waiting to see, you know, which of these candidates come forth with what I would consider a broad and balanced message and that shows the capacity to lead and not just campaign.

"One of the reasons that I was so frustrated and decided not to get in the race was because it appears to me, and it still does to a large degree, that many of the Republicans are more interested in just defeating Barack Obama than they are in rebuilding America. Well, defeating somebody without a plan to really resolve problems, to me, is a worthless endeavor. You know, I want to see us really focus on how to get the country back to work. We've got 15, 16 million people that don't have jobs that would like to have them. Let's talk about that, not: 'Let's spend our time talking about what's wrong with one of the candidates we're trying to defeat,' and that's unfortunately been the focus of this primary."

Pretty much the problem with this race to the Primary. Very little talk about what to actually do, but a LOT of pointed fingers. You don't lead by pointing fingers. You don't lead by clucking your tongue about what the last guy in office did. Right now, the leadership's biggest hurdle is its obsession with the current seated President, as opposed to specific policies to deal with the difficulties we face.

Huckabee is an evil piece-of-shiat.

His idea of "rebuilding America" is turning into a theocracy.

A truly horrid human being, that somehow has convinced people he's a nice, harmless fat guy.

Obsession with toppling Bush didn't work for the Democrats in '04. Obsession with beating Obama - especially with this field of duds that make Kerry-Edwards look like an exciting ticket - probably won't work for the Republicans, either.

i don't know why, but my mind's eye always mixes up their faces. I know they are different people and all, but when I try to picture one, the other one inevitably jumps to mind. They don't even look very much alike, except they're both fat white guys with big mouths.

2012-01-03 06:01:57 PM
The GOP is doing everything in its power to insure they don't get my vote. WTF guys. I don't like Obama either but I like you less.

It really doesn't matter. I live in Minnesota, and everyone and their brother knew that Pawlently didn't believe a single word of the claptrap that he said. You couldn't go a week without reading an article by someone explaining that Pawlently was a social liberal and economic moderate at heart, and was just pretending to be a big-business social conservative to position himself for a run at the whitehouse.

But it really didn't matter. No matter what he really believed in his heart, Pawlently was true to his word. He did what he said he was going to do, and reamed the state as hard as he could with his backwards economic plans, giveaways to his rich cronies, and stupid accounting tricks to hide huge deficits so that he could avoid raising taxes.

I no longer care if someone is really smart and pretending to be stupid, or really actually stupid. Because it doesn't matter. It turns out that in the end, the effect is the same.

A white Republican in the white house and, of course, tax cuts for the wealthy and removal of any programs which benefit the poor.

Do you remember how great the country was back in 1955, when your knees didn't ache and people drove slower and bread cost a nickel and those damned kids weren't on your lawn and a phones were simple to use?

Well, it's going to be just like that again.

So they are even more evil than Raistlin, who gave up when he saw that he could win, but would rule over nothing as the battle would destroy everything?

Mike, the entire Republican establishment is hellbent on defeating Obama, even if it means running the country into the ground to achieve that.

The fact a few can turn the country into their personal objectivist paradise is just icing on the cake.

i'd have spiked Norquist's coffee with LSD then encouraged him to believe that his left hand was EVIL and making him socialist. then given him a meat cleaver and left him alone for a while.

Huckabee is a fiscal liberal and a social conservative. So, yea, many Republicans do consider him a RINO socialist. Your joke is kind of stale, subby.

I have family in AR and Huckabee was a total socialist as governor.

I think it means following the Reagan/Dubya blueprint. Which means massive deregulation, deficit spending, a stock market crash, and a financial bailout.

Upgrade that to the left hemisphere of his brain and a power drill with a quarter-inch bit and we're in business.
