Sorry, but nothing beats my World Trade Center comemorative coin.

"nation's biggest tragedy"?

Only if you count things that have happened since 9/10/2001. And even then, the reaction and what we've done to ourselves as a result is a bigger tragedy.

/Pearl Harbor, the trail of tears, the Civil War laugh at your "biggest tragedy".

Suck it, Gettysburg.

I thought America's biggest tragedy was losing the 2010 Olympic hockey in overtime?

Suck it America!

This is why you don't copy the article's headline.

Actually, Subby added the "biggest"

BurnShrike: FTFA: Turn Our National Tragedy into a Lasting Memory for only $19.95

I didn't RTFA, and based on the headline expected this to be a Nickelback CD box set.

2012-01-03 03:21:31 PM
DRTFA, but by the context it seems finally a Mel Sharples memorial coin.

I came so close to buying this as a gag gift for the Mrs. on Christmas... but I'm a bit nervous about giving a company like this any personal info, especially my credit card.

Forget this .. what's with basic cable double-downing on the Trojan Vibrator commercials? They were on EVERY break during JAWS on AMC

I'm no prude, but last year, SPIKE had one at 10am .. during STAR WARS .. on Christmas morning.

It's not anywhere near $19.95.

It's $19.95 plus processing and handling

When you get the "free" SIlver coin you just pay separate processing and handling.

When you get the "free" Operation Geronimo Briefing Pack (which is obviously a few cards that can be mailed for first class postage) you just pay separate processing and handling.

I wouldn't put it past them to charge separate processing and handling for each of the two free acrylic coin cases.

Someone needs to check but I'll bet the processing and handling is like $6.99 per so it ends up costing $40.96 or more to your door.

It's worth all of $3.

That would look nice displayed next to my Lincoln-head salsa dish and my Pearl Harbor Commemorative dustpan

I saw this commercial for the first time while watching South Park reruns last night on CC and I almost shat myself when I realized it wasn't one of Trey and Matt's little jokes.

A bigger tragedy than the CIA creating AIDS and Crack as a means to wipe out America's lower classes?

I love these ads for these "collector" coins...they act like the value is even higher by kinda brushing up against the gold craze, almost suggesting there is significant gold in these stupid items. My fave line from the latest Indian head 50 dollah bullshiat..

"AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT AND FUTURE REGRET."

Pfft...BFD. Is it really any more ghoulish or tasteless than bidding on a celeb's rotten teeth or shiat-stained underwear on eBay?

I wonder how well these things sell? and who buys them?

The phrase "stunning relief" is burned into my brain thanks to the people who make these commemorative coins.

That's fine, but don't knock over Building Seven. It falls down all by itself :)

Hulk Hogan is secretly the man behind the coin company. Bastard is profiting from his evil deed.

Yes, because a little gold leaf on a shiatty coin increases it's value

I believe I saw this on the weekend while Jaws was on.

There was also another infomercial for some kind of vibrator/dildo. Two women were standing in the driveway, one of whom had just received hers in the mail. They were excited and showing it off to people walking by. Another woman being interviewed indicated that it "made her feel great."

our nation's biggest tragedy

Sorry, Subby. Over the holidays my father informed me that Fartbongo is the biggest tragedy ever to befall this formerly great nation. Him or Van Jones.

I use one of these coins as a card protector while playing poker. My signature move is to knock down the towers to indicate a fold.

If it's not cast in fine, gold pewter like my Civil War chess set, I want no part of it.

What a stupid coin. We need a commemorative coin for everything now? For fark's sake. Bin Laden's dead, and that's great. But look what it cost for that to happen. Whoever considers this a good idea is a moron. It's that simple.

2012-01-03 06:34:22 PM
I'm sure the coin is some form of irony.
