How can the Saints be ahead of the Niners when the Niners are the #2 seed in the NFC while the Saints are third?

It pains me to think about what the Raiders could have done if they didn't lose their QB and RB for a majority of the season.

Looks about right, but I'd still put the Patriots at #3 and Ravens/SF tied for 4th/5th.

oh this thread

cue 9ers fans thinking they're under rated and can stall their way into the Superbowl 3 points at a time.

Because its not about current rankings. Most people (excluding Niner's fans of course) think that the Saints will probably beat the Niners in the divisional round, hence they are ranked higher in a power poll.

/hopes this doesn't happen

Wire to Wire Numbah #1? Numbah #1 seed in the NFC? O-Line and RB1 getting healthy with a bye? A chance to watch Suh rip Breesus' face off? MVP in the bag? Only 3 things to say about that...

Damn, it feels good to be a gangsta

Saints deserve to be above the 9ers, I'm fine with that. Just happy the 9ers have a bye and home field advantage in the divisional round of the playoffs!

rudemix: The Cowboys the best 8-8 team? List, please!

I have them (in my personal rankings) somewhere between 20 and 108.

Good at QB, RB, and WR, OL needs time to develop and the defense is bad outside Ware, Ratliff, and Lee.

I still have the Niners myself.

Then the Bengals can do their ritualistic losing to them in the Super Bowl.

4NSpy: It pains me to think about what the Raiders could have done if they didn't lose their QB and RB for a majority of the season.

Three of the four teams in the division played without their Week One QB and RB for a majority of the season. A systemic dis-functionality plagued the Raiders more so than injuries.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I want the Patriots to win, just because I think their all offense/no defense approach this year is awesome.

As a Packer fan, I hope it doesn't, but yeesh, the only way to stop the Saints is to match them step for step and hope for a late stop. I think San Fran is only capable of one of those, but that will be the most interesting matchup as I assume all of the GB games will have the Packers putting it away by the 3rd quarter, Super Bowl included.

Stimied in a Rut: Question: Are 9ers fans preceived as more or less confident than Saints fans before their loss to the Seahawks last season? Just a question....

I think you have to measure the relative change. Seeing as how before this season Niners fans barely existed on the sports tab (except one guy whose name starts with an e), they win the confidence bowl.

I'll be rooting for them if they play the Saints though.

Titans as the highest non-playoff team? Can't argue with that too much.

For once I agree with something Fox had to say

Mike Shanahan has won 11 games in two seasons as the Redskins' head coach. Steve Spurrier and Jim Zorn were fired for winning 12 games in the same span.

Well, almost. Spurrier left of his own accord. Zorn was the only one fired.

With the HILARIOUS meltdown that occurred due to Fitzy going full retard, I think he takes that one in a landslide. Plus cameroncrazy deserves to eat crow for his boasting early in the season.

Josh Freeman is just sad.

IAmRight: Hey, you know who's a really good defensive coordinator? Wade Phillips.

He refused to be a defensive coordinator for the Cowboys. He had to come here and be humbled into going back to being a D-coord.

Imagine if the Cowboys had Wade Phillips as D-coord and Jason Garrett as O-coord. And a real head coach.

The Giants have gone toe to toe once, and they have spoiled dreams before, but I do not think any of the NFC teams are pushovers this year, except maybe Atlanta. AFC has the Bengals and a Schaubless Houston, but I would be greatly surprised if either of them pulled a Trollhawks in the first round.

No offense to the Saints or 49ers, but the Giants have the best shot to upend the Pack. The very construction of their team ( potentially dominant across the entire defensive line that needs no blitz help to get to the QB when they're "on", a good offense that can move the ball and/or chew the clock against anyone, etc). Obviously they've been Jekyll & Hyde all year, and their secondary can be awful at times, but when they're playing right they're the most balanced team.

The Saints would have to flat outscore them (which they could very well do, but not easy), and the 49ers would have to outright stymie them (same).
