they didn't say it would dissolve, or that you wouldn't notice - they said it would become gelatinous.

They also know how much oatmeal, spittle, and semen can be left in the vat before Mountain Dew starts tasting like Wilfred Brimley after rough sex.

Um, actually that sounds like it's a legitimate reason for dismissal. The mouse looked absolutely nothing like it should have had it been in mild acid for months, therefore the plaintiff likely planted it there for the sole purpose of starting the lawsuit.
Honestly, if they can back that up (and it's not hard, plenty of mice and soda around) they're kind of being nice by not countersuing for legal harassment.

I agree, but they kept the farking mouse and wouldn't give it back. That makes it a little difficult for him to argue his case. What if there was something unusual about that one mouse? What if it was already dead and desiccated and mummified when it got bottled?

A poultry bone will turn to "Rubber" in a few weeks when immersed in plain white vinegar. A test like this shouldn't take 2 years to run. All you need to do is take the bottling date (from the lot #) and then the date he reportedly found the rodent in his can. I'm willing to bet that after two years the rodent would be completely dissolved (probably closer to half that). Soda is not a preservative.

The cans are suspended upside down until just before filling with the product but Pepsico is constantly getting people threatening to sue over foreign objects in the cans.

This isn't the first time someone claimed they found a mouse or finger in X brand of consumer product. I imagine EVERY major company has tested for this type of crap. 99.9999% of these claims are scams perpetrated by idiots.

I just got a SodaStream for Christmas so I'm getting a kick out of these replies.
/no, seriously, I really did just get one, so the only way I'll be drinking gelatinous mouse is if I put it in the bottle myself, which I don't plan on doing
//drinks Diet Coke/Coke Zero in cans, and still has about 6 cans left in the fridge, and is now afraid to drink them
///probably will forget about this story when the time comes to drink them

I think that you should take one for the team and see how long it takes before the rodent becomes unrecognizable. Film it from the start and then put it on YouTube...

Try getting the broken pop-top out of the can and then tell me that holding it upside down definitely gets everything out.
If a mouse gets in the can, it has to squeeze itself in. (If I remember correctly, mice can squeeze through holes several times smaller in diameter than their bodies.) If it was dead OR alive when the can was turned upside down, it wasn't coming back out of that hole. Assuming, of course, there was a mouse in it and this guy isn't faking. I think it depends on the date the can was made and the date the guy opened it.

The top is applied immediately after filling and the pop-top is part of the lid until you open it.

I believe that not only are the cans suspended upside down until right before filling, the top is added just after filling, so there's effectively no possible way for a rodent to end up in a soda can.
Pretty much like Bob & Doug's mouse, it's a scam.

I had no idea! You see, I've had no experience with soda cans at all, coming from America where we hardly ever see the things.
Seriously, what I meant was, you've never broken the pop top off of the can while drinking it, either accidentally or just while fiddling with it, and then dropped it in the can? It's a hell of an effort to get it back out. It just kind of rattles around in there.
