Well, he should get out there and meet the people. He wouldn't want to end up like some boy in the bubble.

Wyclef already tried this in Haiti,Youssou. It didn't end well.

Heh, one of the most stable countries. I'm sure some musician is EXACTLY what they need to stay on that path...

Because musicians, and other entertainers, should never, EVER enter politics. Lemme just go dig up Ronald Reagan's corpse, knee Schwarzenegger in the balls and...well, I'm not doing anything to Clint, homie could STILL kick my ass.

I guess I can ding-dong-ditch Al Franken while I'm at it.

Will Meshell Ndegeocello be his running mate? Because I'd like to see a N'Dour/Ndegeocello ticket.

I think i see what subby did there....

Wasn't Youssou N'Dour the same name (or at least very similar to the name of) the African vocalist that sang with Peter Gabriel on such songs as "In Your Eyes" and "Signal to Noise" ?

/"Shaking the Tree" was the name of PG's first greatest hits package.

That was my suspicion, too.. I have that Peter Gabriel album on cassette, somewhere.

Probably in your car...which is unfortunate, because now it's Queen's Greatest Hits.

Actually, that's not necessarily a BAD thing...

Actually N'Dour is known as a percussionist, but he did contribute Senegalese vocals to those songs.

Didn't Fela Kuti try this, too?

He did indeed, with disastrous results. In fact,I know of no beloved African entertainer that has succeeded in the political arena. Perhaps Youssou might change that.

Isn't 7-Seconds with Neneh Cherry what he got the most popular notice for?

The current president of Haiti is a very popular musician in Haiti, Michel Martelly. I don't know if he's a good leader, but he did win.

Is that right? Well then, there's hope for Youssou after all.

It's the very same Youssou N'Dour. The guy who sang on the best live version of "In Your Eyes" and co-wrote "Shaking the Tree", which first appeared on his 1989 album "The Lion"

Actually, it was Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn that sang on "SIgnal to Noise". I was hoping that information would prove useful one day.

He's got a chance unless he brings Gabriel in to work on the campaign, in which case the first ad should be just about ready to air sometime in 2018.

Feels so unnatural. Peter Gabriel too.

Yeah but it'll be the only political ad featuring Eskimo throat singers and a rare woodwind from Myanmar ever created!

I own two of his CDs. Of course I own CDs where he did back up for Peter Gabriel too. African pop is so cool. Love the guitar work. Youssou is a great singer

Anyone who's worked with Peter Gabriel and Nehneh Cherry gets my vote.
