That was incredible. Wish I could have seen them in person. I have to wonder, though, how much money did the city piss away on those? I've seen much smaller, less impressive displays costing in the millions, this must have been at least 8 figures.

The best fireworks I have ever seen was New Years in the town of Augsburg, Germany in 1983. It was their two-thousandth anniversary as a city, and I was at the top of a ten story apartment building. As midnight struck it appeared that everyone in the town was setting off their own display. Everywhere you looked there were fireworks going off. Not the giant shells like in the vid, but it was still amazing to watch the entire town as far as you could see in a 360 degree arc lit up like that.
The blotter I took earlier that night didn't hurt either I guess.

Not only that, you'd have to try and make it home via the only transport that is available to you... public transport.
Think rush hour but a million times worse.

I'm sure there have been better displays than this one, but it is certainly the best I have ever seen. Especially the synchronization of the shells and the music - darn near perfect. A very impressive and emotional effort that everyone involved should be rightly proud of. Wish I could have been there.

Pristina, Kosovo circa 2011/2012
The greatest firewors show I have ever seen in my like. And i'm talking the big shell firewors like a canopy over the entire city. I've seen fireworks from SF to Vegas to New York City.....and none combined can hold a candle to what I witnessed this New Years. My wife and I were struck absolutely dumb. It was incredible. I hear Albania is even better....which is literally unfathomable to me. That's what happens when there are virtually no regulations regarding the sale of fireworks.

The music and the closeups of the faces tell the story.
They used to rule the World. 100 years ago, 90% of the Earth's surface was ruled from London.
First, the Empire was annihilated, and now, we officially proclaim the English race extinct.
This is a must see video:

Oh, they're extinct alright - only around 5-8% of the male population of the UK, these daysies.

Wow, they ramped it up quite a bit since the time I was there back when we rolled over to 1999. Or I was in the wrong spot.
