He's such a farking sideshow. He needs to just shut up and realize that he is not the TO/Ocho he thinks he is.

only one of his infractions was worth a bench and a fine (plaxico's). the rest are just the NFL being so Nanny State-ish (or needing extra penalty dollars in their coffers).

Chan Gailey needs firing for so many other things but this is a nice cherry on those scoops of shiat. what a worthless gesture on everyone's part (except Stevie's).

Gailey is just keeping the seat warm until the make the formal move to Toronto. They'll bring in a new coach (from the CFL?) once they make the move. AKA, once Ralph Wilson dies.

Your up 21 points, you bench your best receiver and then your offense stalls out thus allowing the opposition to score 49 unanswered points.

This season, Ochocinco had 15 receptions for 276 yards and one touchdown. TO didn't play. Stevie Johnson had 76 receptions for 1,004 yards and 7 touchdowns. You're right that he's not Chad or Terrell, but not in the way you're thinking.

His celebrations are fun, but he has to focus on winning. He's had some terrible end of the game drops throughout his career. The clown act doesn't work when you're not putting up the wins. He's a really good player though. He abused Revis a few times when they went head to head.

The players had the chance to strip the Commissioner of Nanny-State No Fun League rulings when the CBA was up for discussion. They went for the money instead.

No sympathy.

They all need to be fired. Starting with Ralph Wilson.

Fark that. More players need to do that, considering the tidal wave of "I'd like to thank God for that (generic good play) asshattery rampant in every sport. Athletes, please be more snarky and sarcastic. Personality is a good thing.

/Nike should leverage their NFL contract with relaxed celebration rules

Didn't realize their offense gave up 49 points. The guy is a joke and deserved being benched. Pats made adjustments and rolled.

Except they had only scored 14 at the time, so I guess the offense didn't completely stall out then. This is all ignoring the fact that Gailey told the team weeks ago that anyone receiving a celebration penalty would sit. Johnson got a celebration penalty. He sat. God forbid a coach actually enforce something.

I think when a coach makes a statement like that, they pretty much have to follow through with it or they risk losing control of the team, especially with a young inexperienced team like Buffalo. So I'm ok with Chan's decision. That said, why was Stevie penalized this time when he wasn't last year for his "why so serious" celebration where he did the exact same thing? Oh right, because NFL rules don't have to be consistent anymore.

He should've been flagged the time in Cincy, but they apparently missed it. Having a shirt written out before a game is clearly a premeditated celebration, so they got this one right and the previous one wrong.

But why would he even risk it? Why not just suck it up and take it easy in your last game before hitting the free agent market?

Because it's fun?

He just went over 1,000 yards for the season, for the second year in a row. He's the first Bill to ever do that. Celebrating something like that isn't ridiculous. I don't see how this is more offensive than a dance or anything else that players do. Also, reading the rulebook, I'm not even sure why it would be illegal. This is the only part that could apply:

"Possession or use of foreign or extraneous object(s) that are not part of the uniform during the game on the field or the sideline, or using the ball as a pro"

His shirt was part of his uniform during the game.

So then is it ok if a player lifts up his jersey to show an undershirt advertising a product he endorses? It's premeditated, which was part of the rule passed in 2004.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree here. Don't be dumb enough to do the same thing that just got you in trouble a few weeks ago, especially after your coach tells you not to. Have a little foresight and celebrate your accomplishments after you get that big contract in the offseason.

My only problem with this is the NFL posting video on their website basically profiting off the act, then turning around and fining said player for said act.

/hypocritical much?

Is it hypocritical to show bad things that happen in your league for the sake of reporting? Should they only show good clean plays, and no penalties?

If it were NFLNetork.com that would be fine, as I believe they do need to be independent of the league for reporting purposes. This video was on the front page of NFL.com in "look at the funny thing Stevie did" packaging.
