Well, was he 91 or 89? Or is that the joke?

And a big old -1 to Lucas, for making the joke feasible in the first place.

Let's face it, he made enough money off of both the movies and the merchandizing that he probably doesn't have to act much, if ever, again, so long as he spends wisely.

Lucas is an asshole for having security remove the dying old man who just wanted to lick crumbs from his boots.

Well, not is Star Wars, obviously, but Life As A House (Which I enjoy.) and Shattered Glass (Which I have not seen.). I'm sure there's more.

Time to redo those scenes with Ray Park. That whole battle in Bespin was just so dull. I mean, breaking a window and throwing boxes? That's grandpa stuff.

Empire had the better ending. I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader's his father, Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is, a series of down endings.

All Jedi had was a bunch of Muppets.

(It's too bad Kevin Smith just made the one movie, isn't it? Just like it would have been nice if Lucas made some Star Wars prequels, or the Wachowskis had made some sequels to the Matrix)

Great. Now he is more powerful than we can possibly imagine ...

I salute this dude in more ways than one! If he did Empire & Jedi, he was 57 & 59 respectively when he did those fight scenes...I only hope I am in that good condition at that age.

I actually greatly enjoy Chasing Amy, Dogma and Jersey Girl.

Doing those Empire fights at 59, nice. He deserves much respect for his art. This guy made swordfighting in movies look cool.

He went on to become one of the industry's most sought after stunt performers, fight choreographers and sword masters, working on movies including the James Bond adventures "From Russia With Love" and "Die Another Day"; fantasy "The Princess Bride"; Banderas action romps "The Mask of Zorro" and "The Legend of Zorro"; and the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

Not to mention wearing that helmet and the full Vader gimp suit. It wouldn't matter who was in it you can't even see your opponent.

Came to point this out. Bob Anderson was FAR more than just a Star Wars stunt guy. Wonderful guy to work with and talk to. So many amazing stories.

I have to wonder what he and Paddy Crean (Errol Flynn's stunt guy) are talking about right now...

/Probably biatching that there's too much CGI in fights anymore.

Bob Anderson's daughter is a good friend of my parents. He was a lovely man and was good enough to sign a picture of himself dressed in the Vader costume for me.
All my love goes out to his lovely family. The man was a little known legend, but a legend none the less.

Yeah, the name seemed familiar and I'm pretty sure he was the guy who appeared in those Behind The Scenes bits on The Fellowship of the Rings as well because he was tutoring some of the guys sword-work. I remember him working with that Legolas fella. Maybe it was for Pirates. Shiat, maybe both.

Anyway, it mentioned him working with Errol Flynn back in the day. So, wow, amazing resume.

Inigo: You are using Bonetti's defense against me, uh?
Man In Black: I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.
Inigo: Naturally, you must expect me to attack with Capo Ferro.
Man In Black: Naturally, but I find that Thibault cancels out Capo Ferro, don't you? Jumps down.
Inigo: Unless the enemy has studied his Agrippa, Jumps after him. which I have! Pause. You are wonderful!
Man In Black: Thank you. I've worked hard to become so.
Inigo: I admit it, you are better than I am.
Man In Black: Then why are you smiling? Forces Inigo toward the cliff's edge.
Inigo: Because I know something you don't know.
Man In Black: And what is that?
Inigo: I am not left-handed. Switches hands, they begin to move up the stairs.
Man In Black: You're amazing!
Inigo: I ought to be after twenty years. Begins to force Man in Black toward a balcony. His body moves the rocks.
Man In Black: There is something I ought to tell you.
Inigo: Tell me.
Man In Black: I'm not left-handed either.Switches hands and flourishes sword.
The Man in Black knocks Inigo's sword from his hand. Inigo jumps down to retrieve it. The Man in Black tosses his sword into a patch of grass. He flips over a beam and lands next to his sword, plucking it from the ground.
Inigo: Who are you?
Man In Black: No one of consequence.
Inigo: I must know.
Man In Black: Get used to disappointment.
Inigo: Shrugs. Okay.
They continue to fight until the Man In Black knocks Inigo's sword from his hands.
Inigo: Kneeling. Kill me quickly.
Man In Black:Circling Inigo. I would as soon destroy a stained-glass window as an artist like yourself. However, since I can't have you following me either....
The Man In Black hits Inigo over the head with the hilt of his sword. Inigo hits the ground, out cold.
Man In Black: Please understand I hold you in the highest respect. Runs off.

I also found it totally unbelievable that people on all of the planets would be celebrating en masse so quickly as well, especially on Coruscant where I would assume the military might of the empire would still be in place and some one there would be trying to maintain control. Its not like every member of the Imperial fleet was under mind control by the Emperor or something.

Vader was to keep Luke alive to present to the Emperor. I believe Vader's strategy in Bespin was to counter Luke's rookie aggressiveness with minimal effort to display Vader's saber skills as superior - meaning Luke was trying very hard to parlay and Vader barely had to move in order neutralize his attacks. Then Vader employed Sith techniques of force throwing objects as attack - also to display his superior force powers. I would concede that this strategy was also purposely constructed as such by Vader, knowing the limitations of his mostly mechanical body, while sparring.

Then Lucas blew this theory all to shiat with General Grievous, who apparently did not have any mobility limitations with a mechanical body and could spar easily with highy saber-skilled Jedi such as Kenobi (or more ironically, Anakin.)

I met this guy at a con in the UK about six years ago. He was in the LotR section, sitting at a booth near glorified extras/stunt guys more than half his age, and there was no queue to get his autograph or anything. No one knew who he was, obviously. A friend of mine asked him what it felt like to stab Frodo on Weathertop. He chuckled and said "it was a delight."

/Cool story, sis.

I'm watching these movies with my kids this weekend. Finished New Hope and Empire last night. First, there's nothing that an older movie can do to compete with the brain-blitz eye-candy shiate-bomb that is most kid's sci-fi/fantasy movies today. Secondly, Lucas is a farkwad. If half of the shiate that was inserted into the "new and improved" version had happened with a real director, s/he would have cut and re-shot the scene. New Hope was a bad movie; now it's a farking horrible movie. Empires was a good movie but the additions haven't improved the quality (although I do like the color contrasts added to the super star destroyer). I'm afraid to watch Return of the Jedi. It was already pretty terrible; now I'm afraid I may vomit.

Fark you, Lucas. This really can't be said enough. Worst. Producer. Ever.

Oh, and if you haven't seen it, there's a cool film from a couple years ago called Reclaiming the Blade. Anderson is interviewed along with other people involved in the sword training in LotR -- Viggo Mortensen, Karl Urban, etc.

Lucas is definitely one of those artists whose goal is to use CGI to paint his imagination on the screen, so people can realize just how disappointing it is. That's why Terry Gilliam used to avoid it, and that's why the Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus sucked.
