The last poll of likely Republican caucus-goers showed the economy was still way out front with 40% citing it as the most important issue followed by the deficit at 23% and nothing else managing to crack the 10% mark.

Iowa has a major case of brain drain. It's easy to get a top-notch education here, just hard to find jobs outside of agribusiness or insurance.

/is an Iowan who had to move to SC to find work after 2008, is getting a kick, etc.

Iowa/1981: received 77 cents in Federal Spending per $1 Federal taxes paid (national rank 48th, meaning they could argue they weren't getting much for their tax dollar)

Iowa/2005 (most recent available): received $1.10 per $1 in Federal taxes (national rank of 24th, would seem to put them at some sort of mean/median these days).

Never fear, all those rich white guys running for POTUS fully understand the issues we regular folks face outside of Iowa and well do their darned rootenist tootenist to make it all better if you just give a vote for their True Christian conservative values riding on the support of their families and grass roots voter support.

You just know you can trust any of them and that what makes all this just so darn hard.
