What has science ever done for us?

Someone who denies science the way these people do should not be allowed to use any of the things science has given us including TV, radio, cell phones, medicine, internal combustion, electricity and electronic voting machines.

That should successfully keep these luddites out of our politics.

If you're that willfully ignorant, get out of the way. I mean, the rest of us are trying to run a civilization here.

It's frightening that in the year 2012, there are people who don't believe in evolution, or at the very least, anything science-based. My mind literally cannot comprehend how someone like that can exist. I know why, but I don't know how.

I don't believe in the exagerated claims of human induced climate change.

Climate science has been politicised, and hence corrupted by politics.

Thank the church / corporate tag team combo that the republicans are pandering to. Corporations like less educated people because they're easier to coerce and are more willing to go along with harmful legislation if it'll help profits. Religions like less educated people because they're more likely to fill up pews and can be browbeaten into handing over their money in exchange for protection from supernatural jibberish. Republicans pander to both because it's easier to run for office when the people who are likely to vote for you can't tell the difference between truth and ridiculous fiction and think truth is a matter of consensus.

I used to worry about the level of blatant insanity in the Republican primary, until I realized it was just the Republican primary. The Democrats aren't doing anything newsworthy with their choice because it's obviously going to be the incumbent (Obama), and the chances of him not getting re-elected are incredibly slim. You know, I was kinda surprised when I found out that people in Germany actually read the newspaper horoscopes and that some people believe in them, and it amuses me that some people take the tarot reader in her carnival tent seriously, but that's nothing compared to the amount of superstition and belief in stupid fucng fairy tales I've encountered in the US. And it's not like those are, per se, Christian beliefs either, because, simply said, those super nut bag pseudo Christian sects aren't actually relevant outside the US. No, I think he's right, he just didn't properly specify what group of people is encompassed by "electorate".

In this case, it's the Republican Primaries electorate who are, poorly reflected on by these jokers.

I really wish people would stop saying "believe in science", anyway. You don't "believe in science" because "belief" implies something that isn't science.

But it is sad about Huntsman. 30-40 years ago he would have been the *minimum acceptable standard* for a GOP candidate and these other jokers would have been "News of the Weird" mentions a year after the election itself was completed.

I find the idea of an eternal supernatural and omnipotent being no more logical than the idea of a universe that springs into existence under some mechanism that we do not understand.

In either case, you have something nearly beyond human comprehension existing without cause.
