I watched the entire video just waiting for the part where they haul Bono's ass away in a paddywagon, or maybe even tasered him, but no. It's just him and some other dude singing.

I like how the author insinuates the cops should/would act differently if they recognized Bono. Bono should get to play by separate rules, he IS famous and all.

The one 'dude' is Glen Hansard from The Frames, also from the movie 'Once'. But to me he'll always be Outspan Foster from The Committments

Police tell one of the richest people in Ireland to move along.
Maybe he should have acted more wealthy.

Glen also recently did a 4 part piece for World Cafe about the Dublin music scene. Part one was about busking on Grafton Street. Pretty interesting

Not to mention the fact that Bono's about as unrecognizable as Will Smith in a bishop's miter.

Apos: as Will Smith in a bishop's miter.

Don't move, Devious!

From the Daily Star link in the article: The Irish legend, 51, was moved along by the police this Chrimbo after they failed to recognise the star singing in the street

Chrimbo? Really, do we need another word for (what I'm assuming is) christmas?

/apologies if that's an actual common-place word that has escaped me in my sheltered existence.

Busker don't.

2012-01-02 05:02:30 PM
Bono dresses down to the point of being almost unrecognizable and hits the streets of Dublin with some friends to do a little entertaining and fundraising

-Hey, isn't that Bono singing there?

-No, although admittedly he does sound and look exactly like Bono right down to the ridiculous sunglasses, he's wearing a hat and Bono never wears a hat,

-Oh yeah.

2012-01-02 05:17:54 PM
it was moving - when he had them all humming silent night - I liked it.

/not a bono fan usually

"Allllllright, now ! let's just be moving along ! Dere's nuttin' ta see here folks, nuttin' ta see. Move along , boys !"

Busking? What bullsh*t is that? Singing in public? Is that what the abject losers call it now? Christ, made it sound like he was pulling his pud in public.

2012-01-02 06:05:50 PM
You got a Benz, Bono's got a busket!

/got nothin

I've got a serious man-crush on Glen Hansard. That guy puts his heart and soul into his songs, no question about it.

The cops didn't recognize Bono.

Alternate interpretation: the cops knew damned well who he was, but aren't in the business of giving out "get out of city ordinance free" cards to everyone that feels like coasting on the fact that they were cool in the 80s.

//It's nice when the good cops make the news for once instead of the bad ones, even indirectly.

Arachnophobe: Alliteration

Literary consonance, to be precise.

I would have arrested him for that.

If you consider the horseless carriage a fad that won't last long and the phonograph an infernal device popularized by young hooligans to make a racket, then yes, "busking" is hipster emo lingo.

I'm not getting the article where it says Bono is unrecognizable. If I were walking down the street and happened upon this scene I would say, "Oh hey, there's Bono."

Your computer doesn't have access to Google, huh? That must suck.

Hint for Bono:

If the public can't tell you from one of the singing drunks on the street, that should tell you something about your singing ability. Which in turn should tell you something about what your celebrity is based on. Now please STFU and move along like the nice officer told you.

Strange. I've been walking up and down Grafton St. almost daily for about twenty years now, and I've never seen the Gardai move any buskers on. Regardless of how crap they are.

Being a busker is dangerous. They're one of the first things I try to roll up into my Katamari Damacy ball.

Even if the OP was troll baiting, your response transcends. OP gets no troll points. Kudos.

Ermm...okay. So tell us what his celebrity is based on, then.

I thought it was being the singer in one of the world's most popular bands for like 30 years.

"...Bono dresses down to the point of being almost unrecognizable..."

you say that as if he normally performs in his KISS Army armor and face paint

While true, this was still hilarious.
