I'm not going to register at gizmodo but I still want to punch this b*tch right in the jaw:

(ftfa) It's a real disease that stems from depression and other mental illnesses.

I see you've allowed stupidity to run wild in your brain.

Nice, but it would have been better if there was a messed up Barbie there amongst the garbage, at least to give it a sense of scale.

In the real world, hoarding can be a manifestation of OCD or a separate disorder. In hoarding, objects are often overvalued either emotionally or monetarily, and a hoarder often has trouble with categorizing and systematizing. With some people, it is a lifelong behavior, but with other people, hoarding can be triggered by a specific trauma or can emerge along with cognitive decline related to dementia.

If having the difference between what is known in the real world and what is known inside yourh ead makes you so angry that you want to punch a woman in the jaw, then perhaps you ought to reconsider your status of not having a mental illness. Anger at a challenge to a delusion is quite common, you know.

No, just aslong as its Progressive Flo doing the inserting.

Yes, it is Appalachian, but it isn't meth. Too many things that aren't broken, and the good stuff should be at the pawn shop for meth.

My husband is prone to hoarding. If something addressed to him or given to him sticks around for more than a week, he becomes emotionally attached to it. Mail, newspapers, books, knick-knacks--name it. And if I clean up, he has to sort through the trash to make sure I didn't throw away anything "important". It's maddening but at least I've been able to keep the clutter to an absolute minimum--I've only lost use of one walk-in closet.

Do I understand this correctly: an "artist" deliberately put a bunch of junk in a room and photographed it?

No, they built miniature junk, put it in a room and photographed it.

She should do some dioramas of Fallujah.

The 'man' is a complete douche. He writes like a high schooler (and not one in the advanced classes), can't take any criticism (without resorting to the ban hammer -- there is a "jesus bans you" image floating around Fark, making fun of this), he frequently makes Ric Romero look well-informed, and, well, just read some of his articles* (including the comments, and his responses).

It's a waste of my time to bother reading. I hereby vote that Fark identify which Jizmodo articles are by him, so readers can avoid them.

* a good place to start (and maybe end) is his "nuclear explosion 1 millisecond after detonation" article

/also, Barbie's Dream House looks kind of like a deformed skull
//and if you don't agree, you're blind and have no imagination
///Jesús Diaz is a coont

My first thought as well.

I had a girlfriend who's house looked like that. The entire family of four were hoarders. There was nowhere to sit. There was no clear path to walk. You had to move stuff off the toilet seat, in order to lift it up and use the toilet.

THIS. I cursed at my computer screen because there was nothing to give it a sense of scale, like Barbie or a wider-angle shot. Makes it kind of worthless.
