I actually screwed that up. It was "Yahoo Serious Festival" and it was referring to a Simpsons episode where Lisa knew the words but could not comprehend what that meant.

The Tame Apple press seems furious that the Queen never felt the need to knight its messiah Steve Jobs, but instead heaped honours on his lackey instead. Perhaps that's because the Brits know that Jobs never really designed anything himself and was just a sharp marketeer. Although that would not explain why they gave a knighthood to Gates. Perhaps it is just that they didn't like Jobs that much. Besides Ives studied design at Newcastle Polytechnic and started out life designing combs and power tools so he has come a long way.

Perhaps it could be the charitable foundation that's given out over $28 billion?

At least some of the people they knight still seem worthy of it.

Author Terry Pratchett went and forged a sword after he was knighted. Using ore they dug up from an area near his house. With a little bit of meteorite, because "thunderbolt iron, you see - highly magical, you've got to chuck that stuff in whether you believe in it or not".

Steve deserves to be recognized but not knighted. I personally believe citizens of the monarchy should be knighted. Not non-citizens.

Tu dou: Steve deserves to be recognized but not knighted. I personally believe citizens of the monarchy should be knighted. Not non-citizens.

The various orders have their own admission criteria. The one that goes to anyone that can rhyme a couple words or once said something nice to someone the queen knows is, obviously, one of the loosest orders as far as admission in general goes.

Knighthood isn't all one thing, it's basically freemasonry except the head of almost all the lodges is the crown, since there's no longer feifdoms or military service associated with most of the orders. Anyhow, they all have their own shiat.

ROFLMAO!!

Good luck with that. All the anti-Apple people, like you, have to push back with is whargarble!!!! It's pathetic. So lame are the pushees they drag up myths that weren't even true in 1997 and present them as fact now. I especially love the people who cling to the "Apple is more expensive" myth, especially when I send them out to buy a MacBook Air-type PC for less money. Each and every time they do manage to find something cheaper, it's because the spec's are less than the Air.

Here's the reality : Apple beat the holy living hell of its competitors with logistics. They built a great product that people found easier to use and then set the price that froze everyone else out of serious competition. One has to only look at the 10-Qs of every company touching Android to see how deep and vast the red ink is on the Android side of the fence.

So push back all you want. It's not going to change the reality that Apple is a profit-making machine that will - even at zero point zero growth - accumulate $300 billion in the bank at the end of Q4 2015. If it can truly be said that living well is the best revenge, well... snap! You've been told by Apple, and then some.

And apple computers are so great that they own the US market with 15% of the market share over the 83% PC market share.

Apple is GREAT at mobile devices and marketing. Their consumer personal portable "i" products (iPad, iPod, iPhone) really have given Apple new life. Their general computer line up, however has failed to make headway in the US or the world over for that matter.

I believe 10-15 years in the future that Apple may back out of the general computing market all together and focus on their consumer "i" products. It is more profitable and they have large market shares in those lines.

SAN66: Are they even allowed to knight someone who's dead?

Perfect beings like Steve Jobs can't die. He just grew frustrated with this world and the limitations it placed on him, so he decided to ascend beyond our plane. It made him very angry that he would invent something, only to find out that people used time machines (that he invented) to go back and steal the ideas from him... sometimes decades before he could release them. Do not pity him, for now he is one with the cosmos, inventing a better universe. Although I'm told someone named "Jehovah" is trying to take all the credit for that.

every other market? like what, tablets, phones or laptops? oh wait, they killed it in each one of those markets as well, to say nothing of digital media sold through itunes. it's only desktops that lag sales-wise, and that's an industry-wide trend, not just for apple.

apple is the most successful, most profitable tech company in the world, even with a small (but growing) market share of osx users. deal with it and inform yourself.

Apple does not have the biggest market share in mobile phones. Android does at 46%.

I use Apple products for work because it's the best thing for what I do, editing and visual FX. When I was a programmer I used Microsoft products because they were the best tools for that. I used to think the whole "Apple psycho fanboy" thing was a fallacy. Then I read 1macgeek's post.
