Brian Cushing, the crazy middle linebacker for the team, called Braman nucking futs.

Can anyone explain why so many players lose their helmets in games these days. Maybe my memory is off, but it seems to me that years ago it was relatively rare to see a player lose a helmet in a game. Now, I see at least one player lose his helmet in pretty much every game I watch. Is there a reason for this? Or am I "misremembering"?

no, you're right. A buddy and I were discussing that. When Steve Slaton was in Houston, he would lose his helmet after every 3 or 4 carries. And Ben Tate lost his bucket while going in to the endzone. It has to do with the fact that a lot of these guys don't like the tighter, more proper fitting helmets, because it hinders some of their side vision, and they like to be able to take them off easily. Also, I noticed these guys have lose chin straps.

But, b/c sports talk shows are starting to talk about it, and after Braman'shiat yesterday, the league is going to take notice and look into helmets coming off, and get on these guys, especially with all the brain damage lawsuits and veterans complaining about longterm health problems.

Can't help you out with an answer. I'm only here to say I'm waiting for the day when the player's head remains in the helmet spinning around on the ground.

And yet, this retard is congratulated on the sidelines of a nationally televised game for being a complete farking idiot. Yeah, the NFL really gives a shiat.

He is a football player from Texas. I am pretty sure that there is nothing inside his head worth protecting.

I think that's the old Sul Ross, out in Alpine, Texas.
I spent 6 weeks out there once.
Not much to do out there but wait for death to take you.

Nobody's crazier than this mother farker. He had a hell of a year, probably due to the fact he's back on the roids. He's damn fun to watch out there though.

Since it's now against the rules to remove a helmet on the field, how does a player get face time on TV? Strap on the helmet very loosely, or put a piece of adhesive tape over the snap so it easily pops off. A little contact and voilà, the helmet is off, everybody gets to see what you look like and the endorsement deals come rushing in.

What's funny is that most helmets now have two straps, back in the day when they stayed put they only had one.

I'd say that it's by design that the helmets come loose. Imagine a helmet that's impossible to remove. Now crash into someone and get it somehow stuck or caught on something. If the helmet doesn't come off, it's the player's neck who gets to bear whatever unplanned forces the incident causes.

Oh, shut up.

Gross generalizations--especially about specific geographical regions and inhabitants thereof--may be part of what makes FARK great, but come on. You can do better than that.

For those of you who didn't play the foose ball after the late 90s, this is why. It's all hearsay and official word from spalding, or whoever paid the NCAA and primary/high school people, as to the way straps are currently designed. Unless you are being a lazy fark (In WI the refs have no problem stopping a play with a penalty) and not strapping down, it takes a pretty solid hit to remove the helmet and/or the opposing player flailing with his hands to unbuckle them.

It will always be a struggle of safety and ease of use with sports equipment. You either require the staff to carry lugnuts and an air drill to remove the players helmets every possession turnover, or you live with the fact that helmets were meant to be removed by human hands.

Just so we don't hurt the widdle players fweelings, lets give everyone a participation bowl trophy. It's called not pussing out, and making a tackle. If you REALLY cared about this issue, the best thing to do would be to have the refs call the play dead. Cause it's really hard to be going balls out to "EEEK, don't hit me" in 2 seconds.

Do not be deceived. I have made no official statements.

Its totally not just you. I've noticed this all season long. Yeah, maybe my memory is rusty too... but I'm convinced its happening like 10x more than a decade or so ago.

My son went to high school with Cushing. Freshman year he was a string bean. Came back after summer vacation looking like the Incredible Hulk. He told me you could buy all the drugs you wanted in the school parking lot and that the coaches encouraged the use of steroids.

So much for a Catholic education.

I've noticed this too and it bugs the hell out of me. But I've heard from football players that the helmets are supposed to be snug as hell - like they hurt to put on. So, I would think the players nowadays are not wanting helmets as snug. Couple that with a lot of the hairdos the players are sporting these days, and you can imagine why the helmets seem to be flying off so easily. I've also seen players (not too recently, though) playing with part of their chinstraps unsnapped.
