I did this in high school across our 80-foot stage, so I'll be coming back later to get a kick out of some of these posts.

I would, if the line wasn't too long.
And if I were going to the game.
Which I'm not.

So for $10 you can feel good for 8 seconds despite the dangers of maybe dying in the process? If this is okay then why'd Indy spend so much time and money preventing all those prostitutes from coming to town?

We did this one down in Costa Rica - it was awesome.

If they wanted to make it REALLY cool, it would be like this one.

What do you do for fun, so we can ridicule that?

Will the zip line traverse over the field of play itself?

10 bucks won't buy much beer in stadium, usually one cup can cost to 6 to 8 bucks

I swear Indy has lost their minds for the SB. The zip line would be fun in say, MAY. But Feb? It's going to be farking freezing out there.

That plus the bike-suicide lanes and the smoking ban. I'm surprised they haven't rolled the blue-law repeal in there as well.

I'd be cool with the blue law repeal. A zip line just does not seem like a smart idea in February, especially given how downtown can be a wind tunnel. Maybe they'll get lucky and winter will continue to be very mild, but it sounds like a potentially painful experience.

The city really seems to have screwed up a lot of the planning. We had to give back a bunch of grant money that was supposed to go to emergency management in order to prepare for The Game That Shall Not Be Named just because the stuff it was meant to be spent on was never bought.

I'm worried about traffic downtown. I work a few blocks from the stadium and I'm afraid it's going to be a nightmare getting in and out that weekend but so far it hasn't been addressed.

Zip lines are often used to traverse the mountainous regions here in Indianapolis.

Meh. I live two blocks from the speedway, and we manage. I would imagine there would be more people flying (instead of driving) than we have at the Indy 500 each year. Some of the race fans camp out for two weeks or more. . .

Just watch the traffic reports fanatically and you'll be fine. :)

Oh, I wish it was that easy. I work out of downtown for an emergency-related county agency. I might be expected to get in and out in a hurry but I have no flashy lights so I'm usually at the mercy of normal traffic. With the number of pedestrians downtown and so many of the roads around us closed, it's going to be a pain and I'm concerned that there hasn't been any planning for how we're going to operate through it that I'm aware of.

As for Speedway, yeah, I know exactly what they do because two years running I've been called to the area during the race and couldn't get inside the perimeter because of a "communications problem" with the state police that were running the roadblocks. I dread working race days.

Astra: I dread working race days.

I used to work at the Papa John's at 38th & Georgetown, and race weekends suck. Horrendous traffic, lots of foreigners who barely speak English during F1. Trying to get people to understand why we shut down for almost two hours on Sunday after the race lets out. Gadzooks, am I glad I don't work there anymore.

I am hoping that this super bowl will give Indy residents a showcase for our indigenous yodeling skills.
