Using the second string offense against the first string defense of a playoff caliber team.

Yo Mr Flynn. I hope you stick around, but if you don't GOOD ON YA!

What an exciting game. Flynn's gonna get the Packers some mighty fine draft picks here soon.

I'm sure that the game and awesome play will make the one share my future-ex required me to buy for our kid somehow more valuable. (HAH!)

Game was just amazing. I am going to miss Flynn.

Is it time for the Brady argument?

Rodgers isn't that good. It's just the system. See, because a backup came in and did something okay, so that means that Rodgers is actually really terrible and just a system quarterback.

/what some people actually believe...

Matt flynn made himself a lot of money today.

There's been talk of the packers using the franchise or transition tag on him and then trading him.

Brett Favre?

Throwing myself into total exile over this, but Brett was a couple of players away from a superbowl that year.
GB management decided to go for the future rather than a SB that year. If I were Brett, I would be upset as well (if I had his ego). His Jersey will be retired by GB *someday* but not anytime soon. Personally, I like the decision made.

If the Jets fans were smart instead of them fixating on dumping Sanchez for Peyton Manning they's hope that the GM could swing a trade for MAtt Flynn.

As great as that game was (and I'm a lions fan), I just can't get one those bad calls that cost the lions challenges and touchdowns. As a fan of the lions, I'm furious with the officials. As a fan of football, it was an outstanding performance from both quarterbacks. (lost in the shuffle is the fact that Stafford threw for over 500 yards and 5 TDs, putting him over 5k yards for the season).

I only hope we meet again in the playoffs. Not because I think we would win, but because that would mean we beat New Orleans.

The cheese heads would have lost if the Lions hadn't gotten hosed with the no touchdown call.Damned officials are getting better at ruining coaches careers.

I kinda agree with that, but I'm in one as well, nonetheless. It's also a 2-QB must-start league.

I have Flynn-Hasselbeck against Brees-Smith. Flynn got me 60 points today, and I'd never be able to say that if it wasn't for FFL in Week 17.

/had Rodgers and Ryan all year.

Lost in the shuffle is Matthew Stafford, who threw for 520 yards and 5* TDs. And lost.

I didn't see the the whole game but I did see that "fumble" call that Schwartz challenged which was upheld. The Lions were screwed on that play.

The Megatron TD catch that was called incomplete and unreviewable was worse. Especially considering the Lions lost by 4 points, which is how many they were screwed out of on that play. I'm not saying the Lions would of won if that was called correctly, but there sure as hell would of been OT.

Maybe, but there are so many talented QBs coming out of college. He'll get a nice payday, but not as nice as it should be.

No, the worst call was the muffed punt that was called a fair catch. Yes, for those keeping score at home, that's 4 points and 2 possessions gifted to the Pack.

Oh right, I forgot about that. But, to be fair, Flynn threw an INT right after the BS fumble call, so I'd still call it 4 point and 1 possession. But still, pretty damn awful.

Yep. I'm a Packer fan, and a bad call or two went against us, but the Lions got absolutely hosed by the zebras. They almost surely would have won but for the refs. Don't worry though, if you come back to Green Bay in a couple weeks, you'll be playing the first string. :)

Also, someone please tell Ndamukong Suh how to do the Rodgers belt move. He looked like an idiot botching it that badly.

Call me crazy but I'd take Manning over a one-game wonder. Not saying Flynn won't work out but come on.

Flynn played pretty well against the Pats last year.
Pack didn't win the game, but that wasn't on him.

Schwartz doesn't get such bad calls if he never chases down Harbaugh. Should the Lions TD in question have counted, McCarthy goes for two when the Packers score their last TD. Just a hunch, but I've also watched every Packers game since about 1993, when I was 8.

No, because Aaron Rodgers has never been in the same "hype" stratosphere as Tom Brady, even though he IS a better quarterback and athlete.

If there's one thing to learn from history, it's that The Refs and the Lions will always tend toward the fecal. One can never equivocate throwing a game-ending interception or being unable to stop the Packers' first-and-a-half-team offense in the middle of a push for a more attractive playoff seeding.

robsul82: You must've been vacationing during the OMGWTFBBQ BEST SEASON BY A QUARTERBACK EVER!!!!!111 portion of the season.

Yeah, BTW, he finished the season with the best passer rating ever. Shoulda played this game, then he'd have had the most TDs in a season ever, too. Crushed the hell out of everyone in yards/attempt.

Al Zeimer: Also, someone please tell Ndamukong Suh how to do the Rodgers belt move. He looked like an idiot botching it that badly.

Has an opponent won after doing that sh*t? I only remember Abraham getting clowned after he did it once with the Falcons and now Suh.

Scruffinator: Oh right, I forgot about that. But, to be fair, Flynn threw an INT right after the BS fumble call, so I'd still call it 4 point and 1 possession. But still, pretty damn awful.

Well, the one he's referencing is another one. Where Nelson caught the fair catch then tried to put it in his other arm and dropped it.

/that non TD call was atrocious but it was the only one that really mattered.

2012-01-01 07:37:33 PM
I guess I'll be the one to say it:

The Lions played like crap. Yes, they should have had 6 TD's (and by the way, Stafford threw for over 5K yards, and didn't get in the pro bowl? WTF is that?) and they should have had a muffed punt, etc, etc - but the defense was the story today. If they could tackle one or two players, this game wouldn't have even been close.

Then again - in this league (NFC) it doesn't matter if you throw 5 TD's, you have to throw 6 to win.

If, but, woulda, coulda, shoulda. Passer rating and yards per attempt. Wow. Nothing after Week 8 has mattered.

IAmRight: Well, the one he's referencing is another one. Where Nelson caught the fair catch then tried to put it in his other arm and dropped it.

Yeah I was just mentioning that one of the possessions the Lions lost didn't really matter. Both Megatron and botched fair catch were horrible.

It also helped that the Packers were NEVER CALLED for the obvious holding they did the entire game (not at all unlike the previous meeting where Suh got so damn frustrated with the non-calls he blew a gasket and lost his cool)

Least penalized, sure, because the refs ALWAYS call it favorable for them.

I hate to complain about officiating, but this one stunk to high heaven. Just one of those two massively blown calls probably alters the outcome of the game. Call holding the same for both sides, and Flynn's stats aren't nearly as good today.

I can sympathize with those complaining about the TD non-call but this is beyond the pale. The Lions got away with holds as well. Every team, every game does.

He didn't lose his cool; he never had any. And it had nothing to do with holding non-calls. Or does he head-stomp constantly during every game? If holding non-calls drive you insane, you wouldn't last 5 minutes in the NFL.
