Best innovation NBC/Bettman /whoever came up with after the lock out. Love the Winter Classic. Especially enjoyed the Caps/Pens one (Caps fan, so duh) but think Rangers/Flyers should be a damn good game of hockey and that's all I want. Only sport I'm watching tomorrow. (F the BCS and their Bowls)

The should move the game to another day. Scheduling it for New Years day and having to go up against a bunch of the better college bowl games isn't the smartest thing to do. I'll be watching but as soon as the Rose Bowl starts, I'm out.

Maybe we shouldn't have WC games in PA or south of it
But who are we kidding? Comcast has 51% of NBCUniversal & 100% of the Flyers so we'll be seeing Philly in this game from now to 2020 unless they sell the team (they sold the 76ers last year).

Can't wait, going to be awesome! 24/7 has me so pumped up for this game. As a Rangers fan, the best thing ever would be to see Staal dressed tomorrow.

FTFA:
The NHL has pushed back the start-time of
Monday's
Winter Classic matchup between the Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers to 3 p.m. ET due to weather conditions.
The game, held this year at Philadelphia's Citizens Bank Park, was originally slated to start at 1 p.m. ET.

Currently in the low 40s in three of the four former Winter Classic host cities (only Chicago is cold right now; as far as the Heritage games, Edmonton and Calgary are both in the 20s). Though this whole thing makes me hope they're smart enough to go to Minnesota or Detroit or something for the next one.

And I forgot to add: Please, for the love of God, mix it up next year. In seven outdoor games since 2003 we've seen three repeat teams already. I know it would repeat if it were in Detroit, but maybe have them play the Leafs or something? Or like, Wild-Jets or Blues or Colorado-anyone. Just saying, there are plenty of options we're skipping out on here.

Yes, I know that as it's what the article was about. It still does nothing to respond to the point I was making. The NHL would do better to play this game some other day rather than on New Years Day. Yes, it's the day after this year because New Years fell on a Sunday but that's besides the point.

If there are Canadian teams involved it'll be a Canadian/Canadian matchup and be called the Heritage Classic

Minnesota should host one against Dallas.

As a Flyers season ticket holder, the game has been scheduled for January 2nd all year, they didn't decide to move it last week.

Unfortunately, TV licenses dictate these matchups and NBC a) doesn't know the Canadian teams exist and b) can't stop sucking the Northeast's dick.
The next Heritage Classic should definitely be in either Toronto or Montreal and include both of their teams. Hell, I'd probably go if it was.

Neither city has an outdoor stadium big enough to make it worthwhile, Vancouver is too mild and Ottawa has no stadium right now.
So Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg are the only Canadian cities where it could happen. Investors Group Field in Winnipeg is supposed to be finished construction in time for the next CFL season, so it should be available for next year.
In theory the Rogers Centre in Toronto could be used, but honestly I don't know if it was designed to have the inside of the stadium cooled with the roof closed rather than warmed up. Keeping the inside cool enough to prevent damage to the ice until the day of the game may be impossible. Same goes for the Big O in Montreal.
