Of all movies, Fast Five?

Not that this matters, anyway. Not everyone uses BitTorrent or Torrents to pirate movies or music.

I'm not sure the Hangover II would be worth the dime's worth of hard drive space.

fast five wasnt that bad

There. I said it.

I mean it wasnt citizen kane. But it was still pretty fun.

...did not pay to see fast five

They keep track of illegal downloads?

BalugaJoe: They keep track of illegal downloads?

"They" being the torrent sites which now what files are shared more often.

Not "They" being the movie industry.

Fast Five was a fun movie.

/saw it at the movies

I go to the movies so I can watch in peace. The house has too many distractions and I have to make my own popcorn....which is sad.

I'm just trying to figure out how there will be a Fast Six when one of the characters is supposed to be dead.

Logic has no power here. Or good film making.

Which character are you referring to? The girl who died off screen and was never actually shown dying?

Yet this the first time I've heard of it.

This makes a lot of sense to me.

If a movie sucks too much - I won't bother pirating it.
If a movie is clearly going to be awesome - I won't bother pirating (because I'll want to see it at the theatres).

It's the questionable crap that people pirate. Given the history of the franchise - I wouldn't be willing to spend money on it.

I actually ended up watching this on an 10 hour flight and thought it was a decent action flick. But some of the others in the series were utter crap.

That actually makes sense.
I've known, been around and sadly, lived with exactly the type of people who would prioritize Fast Five & Hangover II over anything else, and burned DVDs of new movies were practically a status symbol.
Though, it's amazing the discs they made were even watchable with all the dirt, ash and burn marks. What is it about potheads and piles of dirty discs strewn about?

Fast Five was a great movie. It had high production values, the 'original' cast, and above all else, most importantly: it didn't take itself too seriously.

It lacked the douchebaggness of the first one (which I also love), it knows what it is, and played up to it. The Rock hasn't been that funny since he was in Be Cool. It was great.

No offense, but it think it is "long lost brother", though I guess you can argue that could mean the same thing, but I have already put too much (less) thought into this.

I prefer watching movies at home so I can avoid the distraction of people munching on popcorn.

See the first one was just point break with cars instead of surfing. And a lack of understanding that keanu didnt let swayze go free at the end of point break, he just let him paddle out to die in the surf.

The reason it was the most pirated movie is that there was an excellent quality bootleg available the day after it came out. People are always on the look out for high quality copies so this one spread like wild fire across the net.

Exactly. I won't pirate Dark Knight Rises, b/c I'm going to see it in a theater (IMAX, most likely) ASAP. I won't pirate Transformers, b/c I don't want my computer to melt down from the sheer awfulness. But I was on the fence about Fast Five. It looked like it had just the right amount of cheese, and studies have shown that watching the Rock and Vin Diesel fist fight makes you 26% manlier. But at $10 a pop, and not finding any friends willing to pay to see it, I ended up watching a bootleg on a thumb drive my roommate had.

Fast Five is the kind of movie you're forced to sit through on an airplane because that's all they have and you can't fall asleep.

And yet the movie made more than $200 MILLION DOLLARS WORLDWIDE.

It made over 200 million in the USA. It made over 600 million worldwide.

None of that matters though, pirating movies is and should be illegal.

I download movies in 1080p and watch them on my tv. This takes less time then it would to go to the store and buy it.

Keep spreading movie industry disinformation though. Wanna tell me to enjoy my viruses next?

Really? OK pal, download a copy of War Horse or Mission Impossible in 1080P. Oh wait, you meant you download movies 6 months after they come out. Yeah have fun with that.

Count me in with the Fast Five appreciation. Like some other Farker said - it does what it's supposed to. It's just an action film with all the key ingredients - guns, cars, explosions, fights and pretty girls.

There are worse films out there. The Fast and Furious franchise is enjoyable, passes the time and when I walk out the cinema I don't think, wow that's 6 quid wasted.

I'd almost be willing to pay a theater $10 not to see those.
