Funny that they control the largest media outlets in the world - yet still claim to be oppressed by the "mainstream media".

2012-01-01 03:34:35 AM
Well Duh! That's because libs are out hiking in the forest hugging trees while Neo-Cons are sitting in front of the TV hugging a Col Sanders bucket!

Also subby where does Jon Stewart show rank?

2012-01-01 03:36:39 AM
So Fox is the liberal media?

2012-01-01 03:48:09 AM
popularity = "Hey Himmler, this goose-stepping is all the rage here in 1930's Germany, isn't it"

"It sure is, Adolf. It sure is."

2012-01-01 03:56:13 AM
Have a listen to the top 10 most popular songs of the year, then tell me what this moronic headline is supposed to prove.

Editing skills -5, Subby. Retard skills +5. Total 0. Try again.

2012-01-01 04:35:51 AM
And a You-Tube video of a cat licking its anus is more popular than any news program. So lets extrapolate based on those terms.

2012-01-01 05:49:45 AM
Sometimes, the truth is unpopular.

2012-01-01 06:25:49 AM
so asshattery trumps smug on cable?

2012-01-01 07:04:23 AM
Vodka Zombie: Sometimes, the truth is unpopular.

...which would explain the great success of Fox News, I reckon.

2012-01-01 09:56:35 AM
Madcow is #13! whoo hoo! Perhaps if she told the truth a bit more, she wouldn't be dismissed as a quack.

/does anybody take anything on MSNBC seriously? Other than the DNC, who tells them what to report?

2012-01-01 10:21:12 AM
And how do those same Fox News shows fair against The Daily Show?

Help, its the LIEBERAL MSM Mainstream Drive-By MSMSMSMSMSM LIEBERAL media! We're being oppressed!

MisterTweak: Funny that they control the largest media outlets in the world - yet still claim to be oppressed by the "mainstream media".

That's their schtick. It's marketing.

Also, I think I've watched Maddow's show like.. once? Twice? I don't even know when it's on.

2012-01-01 11:12:22 AM
So....TV ratings are political ratings are politically significant?

How tribal are Fox and Limbaugh going to make this culture in order to achieve the complete destruction of anything resembling a common American polity?

2012-01-01 11:12:25 AM
So by this logic, what? Fox is better? More accurate? Because the Daily Show kills all their shows in ratings, so they must think the Daily Show is a more accurate news source right?

2012-01-01 11:19:48 AM
Not gay enough for me.

2012-01-01 11:21:17 AM
I used to joke that Osama bin Laden was probably hiding out all these years at MSNBC, since nobody ever looks there for anything.

That joke was actually made by Seth Meyers at the White House Correspondents Dinner, except it was C-SPAN instead of MSNBC. So we have a sucky blogger and a thief here, folks.

I guarantee you that this conversation happened more than once over steins of beer in Germany at the time:

"So, Gunther, what do you think of Hitler?"

"Well, Klaus, I don't agree with all of his policies, but he sure has that Jew thing right."

"And the gypsies. Don't forget the gypsies, Klaus."

"Implied, Gunther."

MisterTweak: Funny that they control the largest media outlets in the world - yet still claim to be oppressed by the "mainstream media".

Conservatives have an equal voice on the largest cable network (which are dwarfed by broadcast), and are essentially shut out of every other form of mass media. I'm not sure how mere parity on one news outlet is supposed to counterbalance complete absence from all the others.

2012-01-01 11:26:16 AM
Well actually, Fox presents themselves as the only fair and balanced news network against all the other liberal outlets. Therefore, the people who prefer their news with a liberal bias have many different channels from which to choose. You would need to add the ratings of CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, CSPAN and any others I am forgetting and then compare THAT total rating to Fox in order to accurately gauge popularity.

Or, you can position Fox as conservative and MSNBC as liberal and compare the two while considering all the rest to be mainstream. What you can't do is compare Fox to MSNBC while saying Fox is neutral.

Complete absence? You mean there are no conservative voices on any other media outlets anywhere?

Subtard is a Fox shill.

You'd think that if those were quality numbers, they'd be able to sell slots for things other than gold scams and off-brand boner pills.

What's sad is toot mom is in at #18.

Solution: Buy up the rating agencies, make sure Murdoch's shows drop like a stone.

2012-01-01 11:32:51 AM
This should be one of those memebase troll/rage comics.

Hey Fark...

FOX NEWS!

2012-01-01 11:33:47 AM
lol, the idea that any of the media is liberal. Democratic Underground is liberal. Daily Kos is liberal.

Maddow is level headed and leans a bit to the left. Young Turks are populist and bombastic. Olbermann is liberal.

FOX is a professional wing of the Republican party.

Stewart is probably the most honest news reporting show in America, and he's a comedian. Should tell you everything you need to know right there.

The "old" media is right/center/corporate with occasional feel-good stories, but in no way giving a 'liberal' slant to things.

2012-01-01 11:34:08 AM
People are stupid and have bad taste. See Transformers, Twilight etc.

I get my news from the only unbiased source, AFV.

Mental exercise: how many cockroaches are there for every human on the planet?

2012-01-01 11:36:32 AM
Mentat: Complete absence? You mean there are no conservative voices on any other media outlets anywhere?

Close enough. When's the last time you've seen somebody on TV advocating a cut in government? Not a mere decrease in the rate in which it increases, but an actual cut? Never happen.

2012-01-01 11:38:45 AM
so they were averaging about 1%

2012-01-01 11:39:57 AM
Can the Fox supporters explain why Murdoch sanctioned phone intrusion (and otherwise) as company policy? You know, the thing that Murdoch got caught red-handed earlier this year.

You know, that Fox didn't want to cover?

2012-01-01 11:43:40 AM
that maddow dude can't even beat a rerun of o'reilly.

/that's embarrassing
//except that only a small percentage of people actually watch cable news
///a percentage that likes to be told what to think
\\\\that goes for you msnbc fan boi's as well

2012-01-01 11:45:52 AM
Generation_D: FOX is a professional wing of the Republican party.

This. I don't even count FOX News as a news organization anymore. The only thing separating them from a network openly declaring itself the Republican Channel is that tiny remaining vestigal smidgen of shame.

So let's try this again. Are there any NEWS programs higher-rated than Maddow?

Well, you know, if she took office today, she might actually be able to complete the term.

McDonald's sells more beef than Morton's. Popular is not the same as good.

2012-01-01 11:57:49 AM
Categorically speaking, fiction has always been more popular than nonfiction.

2012-01-01 12:04:01 PM
Haven't seen her since I dropped cable nearly a year ago. It makes me less insane that I'm not flipping through those channels getting pissed off. Either about Rachel exposing the BS or Fox News spewing the BS or CNN sitting there and wallowing in the BS because they don't know how to report actual news.

Remember when CNN was an actual network that gave you useful information about the world? Those were the days. They remind me of TLC. Not very much learning going on in either place unless you wish to destroy the human race.

I have to hand it to loud, old, angry, ignorant, bigots; they are loyal.

Rachel Maddow is staying in the same hotel I'm in right now. She's two doors down from my parents. And last night I ran into Melissa Harris-Perry on Bourbon St. So, obviously, I'm getting a kick...

/Also, having spent the last week and a half in hotels and on cruise ships, I've noticed that FOX News was available everywhere and MSNBC was not.
//I personally watch Maddow (and Up with Chris Hayes) on the intertubes.

The viewers of the top 14 shows should be loaded into a rocket and launched into the sun. Especially the viewers of the 14th show.
